Reds Dan Serafini was drafted by the Twins in 1992 as their 1st round pk and 26th overall. From 1996-2000 he has appeared in 91 gms, 29 were starts with a record opf 14-13 with an era of 6.48. He hasnt pitched since Sept 2000 in a 8-4 victory over the Cubs.He just signed w/the Reds on Mon. He began the season w/the Cards but was released on Apr 21 after 3 app. in Memphis w/ a 0-1 record and 9.00era. He went on to the Mexican League where he posted a 10-2 rec and a 1.59 era in 15 starts. His lifetime record vs Mil...0-1 8.82. Serafini knows now is the time he must produce as well as other young players who are trying to make a fit into nx yrs lineup. Ray Olmedo .273, Ruben Mateo .248, Wily Mo Pena .157, Darnell Stenson.269, Brandon Larson is hungry to get his playing time (#1 pk in 97) as Boone blocked his way up to the Big Show. Freel .288( 6-17 .353 vs LHP).These kids are hungry, hustle and looking to make an impact and now is as good as time as any. I like these young inspired kids and look for a HM victory vs Mil.....Reds 3*

The Cincinnati Reds continued their shakeup Tuesday, making a four-player exchange on the 25-man roster.

Among Cincinnati's moves was the claiming of infielder Tim Hummel off waivers from the Chicago White Sox to complete last week's trade that sent Scott Sullivan and cash to the American League Central Division leaders.

Hummel was batting .284 with 15 home runs, 80 RBI and nine stolen bases for Class AAA Charlotte of the International League. He made 97 appearances at third base, 31 at shortstop and six at second base.

The 24-year-old Hummel was expected to be in uniform for Tuesday night's game against Milwaukee.

The Reds also placed outfielder Reggie Taylor on the 60-day disabled list. Taylor dislocated his left shoulder on a dive in the Minute Maid Park outfield Sunday against Houston.

Lefthander Mark Watson was placed on the 15-day DL with a kidney ailment.

Righthander Joe Valentine was optioned to Louisville of the International League, from where Cincinnati purchased the contracts of lefthanders Dan Serafini and Phil Norton, and righthander Scott Randall.

The Reds also designated infielder Jim Chamblee for assignment.
