The Green Bay game was no fluke.......The Lion's game was no fluke, either.

These are two teams heading in opposite directions.

As of today, the line is as follows:

Green Bay -6'
o/u 46

I have to believe the line will drop in this game, as it did with the Vikings, while the total will only go up, if it moves.

I am grabbing this current line as my first "overdog" play of the season. Last year, I didn't win too many of these bets, but they are usually pretty solid plays for me.

I don't see any way for the Packer defense to keep the Lions from scoring 20 points. The green and gold have a long road ahead of them to try and gain the "Lambeau Mystique" back. (I know it is only two games that they have lost, but they aren't the home field juggernauts that they once were.)

Mooch will have his boys ready, and the Packers will still be steppin' and fetchin'..........

This is about as solid as we can get.

As of now, I am making this a 4 unit play each way, with the right to buy back some action if the weather, or any late news sways my opinion.

4 units:
Detroit +6'

4 units:
Det/GB over 46

The game that stuck out in my mind that the line was funny was
Pittsbergh Steelers getting +3 points vs Kansas City.

Am I missing something here ?

Dont blame you for fading them Packers. They going downhill.

Scott,

Steelers have owned the Chiefs for years, I think the Steelers benefited from Boller's first start and the lose of Porter may show up vs a explosive offense like the Chiefs.

Lets not forget they played arizona, to me, the worst team in the league. Plus , Harrington aint no scrambler like daunte or vick. Packers do have their problems and dont match up well with running qb's. My only question is who is going to catch the ball for GB. Im not impressed with detroit defense. giving up 28 to AZ. Minny gave them a swift kick in the ass and that should trigger a wake up call this Sunday. Furthermore, GB did not give up in the 2nd half, considering every receiver was injured. Put joe shmo or anyone in at WR and they'll do fine.

good game to take the over, whatever it is!!

If you need a "wake up call" in week one, you are history. That's like a 100 yard dash where you miss the gun.......

Keep in mind Gb's defense is always kind of lost in the begining of the season. They start out slow and gradually get better!!
im not sold on detroit getting the 6 points after one game

yyz,

i'm curious as to why you didn't buy the 1/2 point to make it 7. i'm in the process of exprimenting with buying points & so far it has saved me from a loss, it pushed & gave me a win.but it's too early for me to formulate an opinion on it.

btw, i like detroit also.

good luck

I don't think I need it AR.

I made a couple of prop bets already this season, and that extra juice is a friggin' killer!

I am not overreacting to a bad week by these guys. They stink.....period. Favre has zero intensity out there, and that infects the rest of the squad. They were clearly not ready for last week's game, and Minnesota bitch-whipped them, due to that fact.

Do I think Detroit is a better team than the Packers? I honestly am not sure. They have a long way to climb, but Green Bay doesn't have that far to slide. I don't know if there is a way to find this stat, but I am willing to bet that over the last couple of seasons, Green Bay has given up more yardage/first downs on 3rd and long than any other team in the league.

It was okay for the defense to slide when the offense scored 35+ a game. Now......I aint so sure.

My feeling is that if Green Bay covers this spread, it will have to go over the total, thus....the "overdog" play. With the way the packers defense has looked, and will continue to look, I think both plays are a bargain.

I believe that if you bet against the Packers all season, you will show a profit.

Favre with zero intensity?? Im not sure why you think that?
He has the most intensity of any player in the league. in fact , i think he has too much. Favre is still the same guy!! His receivers have to run the correct routes and catch 90mph fastball or else problems will occur.

Gb -6 3 units

Overrated Packers

Overrated Packers

Yes they are overrated but for this weeks game they will expose Detroits weakness. Arizona gained over 440 yds against the Lions. I don't care if the Packers play Boyd Dowler or Carroll Dale they will destroy the Lions this weekend. Don't over react to last weeks games as Minnesota is a better team than most people think. Also Minnesota's strengths are not a good match up for the pack as they have an outstanding offensive line. Last week against a poor Cardinal team they let a reciever who played quarterback for Florida State get over 200 yards in receiving. I will go against the Pack when they play the upper echelon of teams but not with this sorry pack of Lions. I also look for the Packers to establish a running game very early this week. Last week they threw every down on their first few possesions. I look for a very conservative game plan by the Packers trying to limit their turnovers. Also teams that beat the Pack are usually teams that run the ball real well. Detroit has no running game. Also this is a game where the Lions go from turf to grass. Last week was Minnesota's super bowl as they get up for the Packers as it is their biggest rival. Last year the packers beat up on the sisters of the poor and will again this time with the Lions. Save your money until the Pack plays a quality opponent. (Tampa, St Louis, and Kc ) Good luck with your plays this week

Sorry Greed,

As you said....The Lions have no running game. They won't need one against that horrible secondary! I would toss 15 yard lobs all day against those guys!

Is Green Bay going to play lights out with no receivers? Is "Free" going to bring back that "late 90's " feel? I doubt it.

As for Favre being intense, I challenge you to go back and look at a film of that last game. He looked like he was 45 years old, and just got done with a 48 hour day. Tired, disappointed.......he did not have that look that we all used to see.

Also, if last year is an indicator, the Pack can't "bounce back" the way they used to, either. A loss used to get met with a 24 point win the next week. Last year, a loss was met with another loss. Can the Packers kick the shit out of Detroit? Absolutely! I obviously don't think they will.

Detroit will get their points on Sunday.

Well said Greed

yyz, when your down 20+ points, and have 4 ints in the first half, at home, its tough to stay positive but his intensity was still there regardless of the many mistakes the wr's made. He certaintly didnt lay down and quit. I think your over-reacting to week 1 results. The bottom line is the pack will be back this week in fashion. Look for ahman green to have a good game. I , too, believe GB will have a conservative game plan in the beginning of the game.

Ill be at the game this weekend countin my $$

Real fun to read this thread. Packer fans live and die with their team (a facet clearly missing with many Viking fans, I am one who is there thru thick and thin).

I think the Pack will bounce back in this game. Favre is still a great QB and I believe Walker will break out!

GB -6.5 is my POD, leaning toward over 46.5.

GL to all of you Cheeseheads!

Adding:

1 unit:

Washington over 9' -115 (1st half)

I think Washington has a good shot at winning this game.

Kansas City team over 13 -115 (1st half)

C'mon, Holmes!

2 unit:

Tennessee pk +105 (1st qtr)
Tennessee pk +100 (2nd qtr)
Tennessee gm total over 21 -110

Titans are the better team, and they won't make the Colts defense look as good as they did last week!

Green Bay
Hey yyz, I'm thinking of taking the under 7.5 [1 quarter] with all the rain in Green Bay the past couple of days I'm thinking there will be a slow track, also thinking Green will be emphasised early due to weather and the lack of him being used properly or enough last week.Add to that the Pack usually starts slow. and also I have to add that you never fail to crack me up with your wisecracks:) :)
