Sen. McCain Open to Being Kerry's VP
2 hours, 11 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - Republican Sen. John McCain allowed a glimmer of hope Wednesday for Democrats fantasizing about a bipartisan dream team to defeat President Bush (news - web sites).

McCain said he would consider the unorthodox step of running for vice president on the Democratic ticket ? in the unlikely event he received such an offer from the presidential candidate.

"John Kerry (news - web sites) is a close friend of mine. We have been friends for years," McCain said Wednesday when pressed to squelch speculation about a Kerry-McCain ticket. "Obviously I would entertain it."

If Kerry can get McCain on his ticket I really think he'd have a winner on his hands - could be a great move for both of them in my opinion.

Agree - this could be a huge step to shaking up the two party system as we know it.

"the bunker"
kerry

kerry

may have to take on hilary as v.p....

if kerry wins in november(and i think that last 5 incumbents that trailed in the polls in mid-march all lost),he`ll assuredly be the democratic nominee in 4 years.....

and if he takes a guy, like say edwards,as a running mate, chances are that when kerry is through, edwards will inherit the mantle....much like gore did after clinton....

that leaves hilary`s dream of being president in the lurch.....

so,if kerry doesn`t take" the hil" on as v.p.,he can look forward to having the clinton`s and their cronies pot shotting him for the duration.....

i wouldn`t want that miserable shrike back stabbing me for 8 years....

he`ll take hilary....

I don't think it will happen either. On a related note, I just saw McCain on tv this morning on Sportscenter talking about the drug testing in MLB. He has aged horribly lately, and looks much older than he really is. I guess being a POW in Vietnam probably didn't help either, though!

I believe he was held for over 3 years. I might be wrong but im real close. He a common sence type of man. That's why many like him no matter if Dem's or Reb.

john mccain is my favorite politician because he sort of a rebel, by politicans standards & tends to cross party lines on various subjects.

i never believed that mccain would be kerry's vp because they disagree on numerous subjects & mccain is too charasmatic to be anybody's vp candidate.

I respected the way he stood up and was critical of the religious right during the last republican primaries. Didn't help him get elected but showed me a strong independent streak which I can admire.
