can basically cut and paste my post on this matchup from their meeting a few weeks ago.
for whatever reason, this is the ONE TEAM in the nba that the cavs consistently play well against.
why? i have no clue.
cavs have been incredibly lame the last 2 or 3 years.
but they give the pistons all kinds of trouble.
cavs have covered 5 of the last 6 in this series.
and almost every game has gone down to the final 1:00 of play.
its almost worth passing on all cavs games and just waiting until they play the pistons every month or two.
last 6 meetings:
pistons 92 cavs 88 (on espn a few weeks ago. cavs up 86-81 or something like that with 3:00 to play. pistons close game on an 11-2 run)
pistons 89 cavs 88 (in detroit. cavs had multiple chances to win the game. smush parker misses a tip dunk as the clock expires. cavs had a late lead in that one as well but choked)
pistons 90 cavs 75 (the lone non-cover. cavs played like the mutants they are)
pistons 109 cavs 107 (overtime game. cavs miss a wide-open 3-pter as the clock expires. cavs had lead in OT but gave it away)
pistons 111 cavs 106 (cavs let pistons tie it late. ricky davis misses shot that could have won it in regulation. pistons win in overtime)
pistons 85 cavs 84 (yet another close game the pistons pulled out)
bottom line is cavs play the pistons very well. if cleveland played as well vs the rest of the nba as they do vs the pistons, they wouldnt be a perennial lottery team.
until proven otherwise in this series, making an almost obligatory play on cleveland. and then lookin forward to their next two meetings on 2/3 and 3/21
cleveland (+5)
would play the moneyline as well, but cavs just cant get over the hump vs the pistons. they cover every game but seem to lose by a basket each time
