Why HSA's are a slight improvement on MSA plans they still lack immediate benefits for folks that are most in need of the medical coverage. Yes you can save funds in a IRA like plan through a HSA but you are also responsible for all of the cost until you reach a high deductible which on average has hovered right around 3k for a family. In a nutshell the respons to HSA's has been far below the thought on what the demand would be and employers have yet to flock to these plans as they are confusing to people that have had traditional coverage, PPO's or HMO coverages. Personally, I have a HSA plan through Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield but I rarely ever have to seek medical treatment (knock on wood) but I like the savings feature, but I would not recommend the coverage for a person whom has limited income as they would get no immediate benefits until they reach the decutible thus they would have more out of their pockets.

MC, since you are involved with this program directly, I would think you would have better insight on this. Only someone directly involved would have true knowledge of the program to say if it really is working or not, myself not included as I don't participate in it. While you find parts lacking, I can only hope others using it have truly been helped. I agree, the deductable is high.

If the right to vote and better education was a good cause Pirate. Then we just started. We have about 50 more countries to go. Maybe we should stop the killing in Suddan. Hell I think the cost in lives and our money for things we need at home is to high.
We want to invade countries to set up elections. Hell were not the rulers of this world. Better take care of our own first. I mean if were going to spend it anyway then lets do it here.

djv, guess you and I differ here. I consider a life important anywhere in the world. I think we should do something in Sudan to stop the killing. We are the richest and most powerful country in the world, I think we have a responsibility to help those who can't help themselves. Yes there is a lot to do right here and I personally do try to help. I can't reach the Sudan directly and I count on my country to step up to the plate and do something to stop the injustice.

Why were helping out in Sudan why dont we do something about Cuba, as I believe no country in the world has abused their citizens as badly as Castro in the past 50 years, yet we dont do anything. We talk about all the terror that Saddam caused to his people well look off the coast of Florida and Castro has kept his people imprisoned in poverty with fear of death for anyone whom questions his authority but I guess there is no oil in Cyba or we would of done something by now.

Pirate Fan;

A HSA works great for someone whom is young and has no health issues and this includes family coverage. Where it is lacking is in coverage for people that have health issues as what is not being laid out correctly is that these people still must go through an Underwriting process where they can be refused coverage or rated up high to the point they cannot afford the monthly charge. Thus we have just went in circles by introducing the HSA but failing to address the root of the problem which is insuring folks that have pre-existing conditions that are uninsurable or rated up these conditions can include diabetics, epliptics, obese folks, recent heart problems etc...

MC, I appreciate the insight and I stand corrected. I have read mostly positive things on this program but only someone utilizing it would truly know.
Thanks.

Cuba a good point. Why does it sit there and nothing is done? Because once we do it will cost us billions. So instead we spend the billions 8000 miles away. I guess cuba has some oil. Maybe not enough.

Dear Supporter,

Two presidential debates and two clear wins. John Kerry is going to be the next president of the United States, and more people know it now than just two short hours ago.

Tonight, George Bush had another chance to make his case to the American people. Again he failed.

Again, he showed that he is out of touch with reality on Iraq.
Again, he offered no plan for jobs and no plan for cutting the cost of health care.
Again, he pretended that our problems don't exist.
Again, he refused to level with the American people.
George Bush just doesn't get it, so he can't fix it.

John Kerry held George Bush accountable for the failures of the last four years. He demonstrated the strength and character we need in a president. He made it clear he could lead as commander in chief.

John Kerry offered real solutions to real problems. He told America the truth, and offered a plan for a fresh start on the economy, Iraq, and the war on terror. Simply put, he was presidential. Ironically, the president was not.

Right now, I'm here on the front lines in St. Louis. Down the hall is what they call the "spin room." It is where Republican operatives are trying to put their best face on what was another clear victory for John Kerry. I've done this a few times before, and I can tell you firsthand that my j : ob is a lot easier when our candidate has a big night like John Kerry did tonight.

I know, and more importantly John Kerry knows, how hard YOU are going to work to make sure the Bush campaign doesn't spin this debate.

what an incredible post....... :142lmao:
