Man, after watching this interview I think this guy is an idiot. OK, so its stupid enough that he quits football and owes a bunch of money. Now, he's smoking dope and wanting to be some holistic healer which will probably land him less than 30K a year. Oh and he has 3 kids to support too.

The man battled anxiety for years...for many who have never had anxiety, it tortures peoples souls. He wanst happy with what he was doing anymore, so he found something that made him feel whole again...Maybe a stage yes, but once you find a way to heal yourself like he believes its doing, it helps you clear your mind and find new light...Hes obviously not a bad person, he shows signs of sincerity and caring..He will be back, I guarentee it...when you least owrry about your finances in a way that he is doing you usually find a proper alternative to settle your troubles...IMHO

OH
Just my opinion but the guy has some mental problems. First said "I don't care what other people think" but then says "I think I would fit in better in Oakland"??? He cut his dreads not in a spiritual event rather they were interfering with him taking self portraits?? Honestly I think he has smoked himself retarded. The question "have you done any other drugs?" "like what? Sweets....candy? I'll have a glass of wine" I'm sorry but I guess I was sick the day Candy was considered a DRUG? I respected him for his battle with anxiety but C'mon??

what did people do in the past, before these disorders were diagnosed. i think it sucks. if i had the same problems, a judge would tell me to grow up and deal with it. i stress out all the time, even over stupid stuff, but i know no-one is coming behind me to wipe my ass, so i move forward.
Ricky is a child.

Good point Mjolnir...I always wondered what people in the past did when they had depression and anxiety and nobody understood what it was except for "they're nuts"...alot of lives have probably been saved with todays diagnosis/medicines

I watched the Ricky Williams interview with my 24 yr old daughter who is a UT graduate and currently in there graduate program.
I had a mixed reaction.By no means is Ricky stupid.I was impressed with his answers although I didn't agree with some.
But the fact that the Raiders are on option throws me for a loss.
My daughter who knows a lot about Rickey couldn't believe that his anxiety disorder wasn't even mentioned.Rickey has some serious problems. His way of dealing with his disorder is thru smoking and getting high. Many others take medication, etc.
This is a guy who after a game with everyone in the lockeroom with towels around there ass's taking showers has his helmet still on with his visor down.C'mon...guys That is a disorder.I pasted a few things about the disorder.Relaxzation is one of the ways to combat it.I guess smoking weed is his way.Thought I would paste a few things here. But Wallace should of addressed it.

Anxiety disorders are the most common psychiatric illnesses affecting both children and adults.

Anxiety disorders may develop from a complex set of risk factors, including genetics, brain chemistry, personality, and life events.
An estimated 19 million adult Americans suffer from anxiety disorders.
Anxiety disorders are highly treatable, yet only about one-third of those suffering from an anxiety disorder receive treatment.
Anxiety disorders are categorized as:

.
Social Anxiety Disorder (Social Phobia). Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD) is characterized by extreme anxiety about being judged by others or behaving in a way that might cause embarrassment or ridicule. This intense anxiety may lead to avoidance behavior. Physical symptoms associated with this disorder include heart palpitations, faintness, blushing and profuse sweating.

Psycho-social treatments used in the treatment of anxiety disorders include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure therapy, anxiety management and relaxation therapies, and psychotherapy.
Drugs used to treat anxiety disorders include selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), tricyclic antidepressants, benzodiazepines, beta blockers, and monoamine oxidase inhibitors (
Anxiety disorders cost the U.S. more than $42 billion a year, according to "The Economic Burden of Anxiety Disorders," a study commissioned by the ADAA and based on data gathered by the association and published in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry.

More than $22.84 billion is associated with the repeated use of healthcare services, as those with anxiety disorders seek relief for symptoms that mimic physical illnesses.

Box and One,
It seems your views on life in general are as solid as your basketball handicapping skills. My point EXACTLY, by no means is this man stupid. If he was stupid he would have followed in the footsteps of his other friends here in San Diego and ended up slanging rocks and forgoing football. Instead he chose to go to UT and build himself up playing football, his outlet for his anxiety. But after a few years he no longer found comfort in football because their was so much negative attention given to players if the ydidnt perform and now hes down to his new gig for dealing with this anxiety and that is his pot smoking. Give the guy a break, 60 Minutes made him look like a retard by not announcing that he battles with a mental iillness...

I'm sure that if Ricky Williams read a few of your posts he'd come to the same conclusion about you

In my opinion it is very difficult to understand depression, bipolar and anxiety disorders unless you have them. It's easy as hell to sit in front of an LCD screen and make people's problems that you know nothing about seem trivial.
