AS AMERICANS- HOW DO YOU FEEL THAT YOUR GOVERNMENT IS WILLING TO SPEND ALL THIS MONEY AND SOLDIERS BEING KILLED IN IRAQ YET WONT PUT THAT SAME MONEY INTO IMPROVING THE US?

TRUE OIL MONEY WILL COME BACK BUT WHAT ABOUT THE BRAVE MEN/WOMEN THAT ARE DYING SO IRAQ CAN MAYBE AT BEST TRY TO HAVE A DEMOCRACY. IT BREAKS MY HEART.

WITHOUT THE USUAL COPY/PASTE PLEASE JUST BE HONEST AND GIVE IT SOME REAL THOUGHT.

ALSO ANSWER THE TRUE MEANING OF A REPUBLIC OR DEMOCRACY. THIS IS FOR THE SILLY PEOPLE THAT CALL THEMSELVES EITHER.

Your series of questions are no stranger than many others that have been posed.

1. I'm not happy with the massive deficit and human cost of Iraq - especially when things like vet benifits and many other needed domestic spending are proposed to be cut.

Bush is so economically deluded - his plan to cut the deficit in half in the next 4 years includes 0 (that's right - 0 - ) spending on Iraq and Afghanistan after this year. THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE. To even offer it up is an embarrasment to what little intelligence he seems to have.

2. My heart doesn not bleed for the military - yet anyway. For the most part, they are behind their fight. I am behind them 100%. It's not like Vietnam ..yet anyway (hopefully won't be). Morale and fortitude and belief in what they are doing is very high. The best thing is for them to complete their mission in Iraq. Unlike Bush, I think this will take many years. Bush and his cronies are the ones not realistic about the job.

3. We are a combination of Republic and Democracy. As far as voting on president, we are absolutely a Republic. They may as well not show us the popular vote.

On a local level, we have many purely democratic votes and leadership. On a national level, we democratically elect people who represent us like a republic. We are both.

4. We have trouble - yes indeed. That means our trading partners and people who share our ideologies have trouble too. Hoping for the best though - We've climbed out of trouble before. As of now, we are still functioning like we should be.

I really wish left wing loons would stop posing the theory that the United States went to war for oil. What an ignorant, ill-informed postulation.

Our country is at war to make it safer for Americans. In my opinion any other accusation towards the reasons America invaded Iraq shows total ignorance. Now, you can argue that going to the war was a bad decision as it concerns American's security (I happen to hold that view), but I find it preposterous when nutball conspiracy theorists start proposing that America wanted cheaper oil or more money for Cheney's buddies at Haliburton.

I also dislike the argument that we should, "use the money to improve ourselves." Let's move into reality, folks. The United States is a massive presence around the world. No country can achieve that (for better or for worse) without spending money to promote its interests abroad. Sometimes promoting our interests falls into the category of war. That's just life in an empire.

This is why liberals struggle to make neo-conservatives see the light on American foreign policy. Any dullard who hears the argument that we are invading countries for oil or re-election dismisses that as ideologically motivated nonsense. If you want to criticize American foreign policy, criticize the fact that we only support popularly elected leaders when they are friendly towards us (see: Ukraine, Venezuela, etc.) or that we prop up illegitimate and/or corrupt governments (see: Saudi Arabia, etc.) if it benefits our interests. Don't say that we launch massive invasions without intending to improve the United States.

What I was referring to Smurph was in the way of Military support concerning the fight against terrorism and some New Faces stepping up ie: Euros: England a staunch ally was the only strong contributor. Canada helped in the Afghan territory with some Elite squads along with some other diminutive efforts:
