what am I missing here ? If gman wants to go serv, then why should anyone here give a rat's a*s ? He's not forcing anyone to follow him. Seems to me the decent thing would be just to wish the guy good luck. Amazing how many people here apparently WANT to see him fail. Personally, I thought his posts were well reasoned, and he certainly won more than he lost. Will I follow him--HIGHLY doubt it--will I miss his analysis and posts--absolutely.

very few ever make any money year in adn year out...probaby less than a hundred in the country unless you are on the right side of the action...and i doubt there are more than 2-3 of those on this site

if you gamble, gamble for fun and for the action....that is what you are paying for and realize you will lose...

you will not make money any other way unless you quit your day job and become very well connected or if you are a prodigy...and if you are that, you shoudl be doing something else

anyway, this is a laughingstock so take the opportunity to laugh at all the morons in your own condescending way who pay for someone to pick them their lottery numbers

On the course!
Actually, Matt, I think you are a pretty straight forward guy. You don't seem to have the same agenda against these guys when you post in these threads, as some of the other posters who reply to these things. Do I have "a ton of confidence" in him pulling it off? Actually, no I don't. But that has nothing to do with giving the guy the room to grow. If he makes it, GREAT! If he fails, he joins a long line.

I think most guys start losing when they "go pay", because they are not doing it as a hobby any longer. They lose that spark that they had, to some extent, and (I even more strongly believe) they have the eventual "swinging back" of the pendulum that brings them to that 45%-55% range that we all hover near.

As much as you feel that there is no need for a "lovefest" in these arenas, I would tend to agree that there is no need for the "hate" that comes along with them, either. Some of these guys just want to hate.

If a guy wants to post here for free, and has some success, people think it's great. If he wants to go pay, all of the sudden, he is a "marginal capper", who has a lot of fukcing nerve! That makes no sense.

Chump writes:

Think it's funny that these marginal cappers go pay using this board for suckers and exposure.

Where should they go? A message board about flowers? If the guy can pull down a decent living doing this, why the hell shouldn't he? Because you are jealous, Chump? Now, THAT'S funny!

Oh, and if you expect anyone to believe you make money fading me, well, that just goes to lessen any credibility you might have ever had with the board. Everything you have written in this thread is just another sour milk cliche. Do a little homework.

Go ahead and start posting Chump. But I don't think you will ever get a following. And what is your point about Schilling? Isn't he a pitcher for the Red Sox? Did you mean shilling?

nerdville: I don't have the time or EGO necessary to post plays daily and get a bunch of ass kissers (rex, trolln, joy, you etc).

rex: Try taking an underdog once in a while. Your next dog will be your first. Good job last night

yyz: Whatever you say, you lose a lot more than you win when you post your plays here. Keep playing those -1.5 lines that you're so good at. You are a tool.

I am not jealous, was just making a point of mediocre cappers going pay off 1 decent year at mj's, and I don't have time to sit around and fight an internet posting war with rex and his followers.

Either way, GOOD LUCK...

While I would would hope any member of madjacks would do well at any endeavor they try, I still have mixed feelings about these "going pay announcement threads" that seem to proliferate here.

I've known of gman for a LONG time, and he is a fantastic writer, and he does seem to win more than most. The whole handicapping industry, however, is about marketing and pulling in suckers. There are a few honest guys I suppose, and I think gman will be honest, but the acts of the rest stain the good.

In the same way I wouldn't have wanted to be a tax collector when Jesus walked the earth or a used car salesman in the 80s, I sure wouldn't want to be a tout now.

You can use it now that the dog is gone to a better place than having to live with someone like you.
I'm sure it fits you better than it did the dog. :mj07:

That's it as much as anything. They go on a huge run, or even a lengthy 'good' run and then run into the buzzsaw that is the law of averages.

Also, they pretty much have to start forcing picks. Nobody wants to pay good money just to hear 'passing today.'

As much as you feel that there is no need for a "lovefest" in these arenas, I would tend to agree that there is no need for the "hate" that comes along with them, either. Some of these guys just want to hate.

I don't see much, if any, 'hate' in this thread.

no hate, was trying to make a point and it got ugly. Hopefully, G will do better than the others.

He did have the 'new service' jinx on sat with Boston 2nd half.

anyway, i'm done. Can't win a posting flame war.

We should make a thread on who will be the next poster-turned-service. That would be interesting.
