I will never forget my big bet on Wyoming Vs Utah last year when I had +21 (I Believe) and I was down 35. Score a hail mary TD, get the onside kick, and then throw another hail mary in route to a cover...I COULD NOT BELIEVE MY EYES

I guess it was the Hawaii blowout over BYU in 2001 football. Not an exciting finish or close game (72-48 I think). I took Hawaii +3 for my biggest bet to date. It was the first time I felt like I knew exactly what I was I doing and knew exactly how the game would go. Made me realize there really can be something to this thing when you do your homework. :)

was on this myself, vyrus.i remember the line went from18 to 21,and it was a pure against the public play for me. down 35 in the 4th i think and their i go thinking im stupid and shouldnt play against the public fades, well the game goes off the air the last few mins and walla!!wyoming scores 21 to cover in the last mins.and confirms my thinking of shady buisness in college football.

:cursin: :scared single deck face down BLACK JACK, 2 yrs. ago in LV, just lost 1400 playing craps, went to bj table to get my $$$$$ back, in about a half hr. had 2800 in front of me, wife finds me and says lets go , i said 1 more hand, so i plunked down 10 blacks, dealt me 2 face cards, im really hot, so i smiled at the dealers up card of 2, dealer turns over another 2, takes a hit and gets another2,i start sweating, next card an ACE, a soft 17, but in this single deck game they have to hit a soft 17, next card , yeah you guessed it a F---KIN 4, FOR 21. NOW I GOT MY 1400 BACK, AND THE 300 I STARTED BJ WITH, AND STILL HAD A $100 PROFIT, BUT TALK ABOUT BAD BEATS, I GUESS THATS WHY THEY HIT A SOFT 17 IN A SINGLE DECK GAME. :cursin:

i remember back in 2001 i had a moneyline parlay with UCLA in ncaaBB, last game of reg season, UCLA up 2 points with clock tticking down. they were playing Washington ST. doormat of pac 10 that year and a horrible team. im thinking just chuck up a garbage shot and that will be it.....ass crack for wash st makes a 3 pter hail mary falling out of boubds to fawk me on the moneyline -500. I lost 1000 on that one. really hurt.

Another 1 back in 1999 or 2000 I had a 3300 parlay riding on lat game Miami/St Johns Big East tournament over 126 pts. 3 minutes left score was 60-59. I was fired up !! woo hoo !! i could taste the $$. a plethora of missed layups and jumpers i find myself at the same score with 1 min left. so im thinking they will foul and ill get the over on FT's. last min 1 got 1 fawking FT. Final score 61-59 !!!!
i was ripped !!!!

now thats a sweet story!!!

LMFAO

LetsMakeMoney great thread. Enjoyed reading everyones post.

I got many! These are the BIG BETS for me (who cares about small/average plays) and have had it go both ways. Fortunate and unfortunate.

Fortunate Winners

*****LONG time ago, I think 5-6 years ago, I was gambling foolishly. Lost $200 bet on NFL game, then bet $400 on late night NFL game and lost, now down $600. Bet $600 on Monday night NFL trying to chase my losses and lost that one too. I think all 3 losses were not even close. Now I was down $1200 which was $HIT load of $$$ for me back then. I was desperate whether to quit now or try and double up ONE MORE TIME! After spending couple days in sorrow, I capper I respected online (service) had a GAME OF THE MONTH pick for $30. I e-mailed him few times begging him to tell me how confident he was in it. He said he was very confident but was honest to me and said he doesn't guarantee winner etc and said he does not win all GOM's. I decided to buy the pick and it was Iowa St. underdog over Kansas St. (I think thats what it was but could be wrong). Anyways, I was so pissed because it was an underdog and game was @KSU etc. This was the Game of the month and game I was gonna risk $1500 on? Well I said F*** it and did it. Although I put $3,000 on it to more than cover my 1.2k losses and to have extra winnings!

Game ended up being a very easy cover and I did not have to sweat it out. Boy was I nervous and even got to watch game on TV.

If I lost that game, I prob. would never wagered again being down 5k etc. at time where 5k was something I really couldn't afford. I got the 3k off my parents credit card and then had some explaining to do when bill came to house 2 weeks later. I did this all behind there backs! Felt real $hitty. Things sure would be different now if I lost that game. Only reason I bet it was because it was a GOM. The service was not even a well known service. I think it was called TM Sports. Best $30 I ever spent! :)

**$1000 to win $6,500 on Red Sox winning World Series last year. Did not have much hope of them winning it being down 3 games to none against Yankees. On top of that, add the "curse."

**Winning over 10k if either UNC or Illinois win the championship and both make it to finals.

**This year winning 12k with Spurs winning it all or 2.5k if Detroit wins it all. Both Spurs and Pistons in finals.

**Bet 1k on Angels to beat Giants in World Series. Man that series was full of drama and I was on pins and needles!! :scared

Unfortunate Losers (that I will always remember)

**2 years ago put $100 to win $1500 on USC winning the BCS National Championship. USC ended up going to Rose Bowl and splitting NC with LSU. Well my betting ticket said "BCS NC, WINNER OF SUGAR BOWL" so it was a losing ticket! The one loss for USC that year came in TRIPLE OT where USC RB fumbled on goal line in 2OT and USC kicker missed 37 yard FG 3OT and lost. Talk about bad breaks! :cursin:

**Had 2k to win 2.5k 3-team ML parlay with USC, Oklahoma St. and Miami (year Miami lost to OSU in BCS title game). I could have had 2k to win 2k with USC and OSU, and I was greedy and threw in Miami to get extra $500. Well USC and OSU won, and just needed Miami. I saw no way MIami losing to OSU, they ended up losing but in horrible way. Having something like 3-5 turnovers, RB getting hurt, QB missing plays at goaline in OT, but the biggest let down was OSU converting 1st downs at end of game to tie it and making that 4th down conversion. But on last play regulation, when OSU threw incomplete pass, I was jumping up and down because MIAMI won the game. Then out of nowhere, the ref comes out of end zone and throws flag. BOGUS flag I might add! :cursin:

**Something like 3 or 4 years ago on a thur. night I put 2k bet on MIami Ohio over Marshall. Very tight game and I think I just needed Miami to win. At end of game Miami Ohio couldn't get 1st down so needed to punt, Marshall takes ball with couple min. left in 4th down I think 4-5pts and drove down field. With less minute left Marshall was near goaline. Miami Ohio was called for PI on 2nd down which I thought was bogus. THen Miami Ohio was called for another PI on next play (which was legit). After multiple downs, it finally was last play of game because only 5 sec. left and I think Marshall ran it in. BUt I would not have lost bet if NO PI calls happened. After game Miami Ohio assistant coach hit fan i think was so pissed.

**Now I was pissed over that Miami Oh loss, lost $$$ I felt I should have won. I was looking over weekend lines (NCAA and NFL) and Jags -6 jumped out at me over expansion Texans. I analyzed this game with my friend Pt1gard and we chatted about it for next 3 days. On Sunday decided to pull trigger and get my $$$ back. 2k on Jags -6.

Well Jags if I remember correctly had safe lead, by 11pts I think in 4th, something like that. Made some mistakes and Texans came back and scored and were down 4pts. Anyways, Texans had ball at end of game, drove down field and I think it was a 3rd and 10 or maybe even 4th and 10 and Carr dropped back everyone covered, he decided to ran and ran for TD. I lose bet! :cursin: Him running for TD seemed like it was in slow motion. 2 big losses for me in just 4 days.

I remember that game.... The over/under was something crazy like 80+??? Anyway, I still bet over and my local thought I had lost my mind.... Hawaii almost covered the O/U by themselves.... That was a nice ticket to cash the following week. :)

Bad beat:

Had Eagles vs Saints in early season game in maybe '92 or '93.

Idiots miss not one - but TWO! - extra point kicks in that game and I lose by half point. What the hell is that?

Last year when the Patriots played Miami on MNF. I did not have a signifcant amount of $ on the game, but I just remember watching the end of the game, and being absolutely stunned....probably half because I'm a Pats homer, but still, when the tides turn like that, it's just brutal.

Another bad beat...in my early gambling days, lot of action reverse bets for me, and I did some money management in NFL, 1pm game, with an "if win" action reverse for the 4pm and another "if win" a/r on the night game. Anyways, I was up I think 600 (huge for me, as I'd start w/a 50 a/r, generally a small time player). Had a 300 A/R with the Ravens against the Rams on SNF, Ravens were in the game for the first half, till ....I think it was Boeller at the time just started throwing to both teams consistently on the 2nd half.

Good beats..

Before that, even few years before when money management was just being a puss, I had 500 on the over in the Giants/Ravens SB.

Also couldn't be stopped this past yrs NCAA tourney, aside from that, just something to keep me occupied.

Enjoyed reading these stories though...funny, I can remember scores/spreads from years ago, but after being introduced to someone I have to say "who was that?"

This was a strange bet, but not a sports bet.

While sitting in a Hawaiian bar watching the sun go down, I was talking to my friend and another couple of guys and getting pretty drunk on "umbrella" drinks. We decided to bet on the actual time the sun would set.
Being a pilot, I remembered from one of my classes, the sun set at a certain rate (I think around 3 degrees per minute). Anticipating the height and calculating the setting rate  I guessed the exact minute the sun disappeared into the ocean....winning $100 from each guy.......which we promptly spent on more coctails... :mj14:

couple of quick ones, Foreman knocking out Moorer was a significant and improbable hit and one that still kills me was Steelers playoff game in 95 when yancey thigpen droppeda wide open 5 yd. pass in the endzone, mid five figure swing, I was on my honeymoon, took about three months for the last pieces of glass to work their way out of my paw, lol ! Forget about the 15 point leads w/1:30 left that end up 5 point wins in Mookville aka the NBA lol!1 Had a bushel of those , lol!

In Aruba about 10 years ago playing Carribean Poker at one of the Casinos. A few hands I put in the extra dollar and the big jackpot was A, K, Q, J, &10 of hearts. This hand unfolded just like this:

1st card: Queen of hearts
2nd card: Ace of hearts
3rd card: 10 of hearts
4th card: King of hearts

Now in this casino, you can pick up the cards and "squeeze them" so I am looking at 1 card at a time.

5th card: Jack.....it's RED!!.......Diamonds.

Missed $100,000 or whatever it was by a a diamond instead of a heart. Boy that hurt!!!!! Oh well!!!! Will never come that close again!!! :cursin:

I had 4400 on Alabama +8- vs Jimmy Johnsons Miami Hurricanes who were going for #1 on the last game that New years Day.'bama was down 16 with 3 minutes left, but forces a Miami punt from the Miami 1,which 'Bama takes over on the 31 going in.They quickly get the tighten it up touchdown as Miami was pouring water bucks on JJ,and then proceed to get the easiest two point conversion I've ever seen for the 1/2 point cover. It was 12 hours into a long gambling day,and an $8400 swing.Going the other way,I lost a $6600 parlay on an intentional safey by my team once, laying 4-,they went from up 6 to up 4 with 30 seconds left.

Two sweet under victories:Had Spurs/Kings under about 15 years ago.I was hot at the time and felt really prety confident that I was right about this game.Imagine my chagrin when they were within 11- pts from over with 9 minutes left. The bet went under by 3- points.Had Boston/Charlotte to go under one game that went into overtime with 5 points left before a loss. One tean scored one pt in ot,the other scored just two,and those not until the buzzer!!!Lost one on a 69 yd touchdown pass from Marino that bounced off the intended receivers helmet 15 yd across field to be caught in stride by a teammate for a fluke td 60 yds later,no one in front of him.

speaking of honeymoons, just rememberd a bad beat,2002 world cup ,opening {france /senagal}match fell during my honeymoon.lines were out early for the opening matches ,since i was not going to play anything during my honeymoon,i risked all of 1 of my accounts on france [defending champs}like 1 week before at -2 to 1 or more cant recall,i figured ill just risk a big fave ,watch and win a little $$ on my honrymoon.NOOTT!!FRANCE GETS UPSET and fked up the rest of my hmoon a little.senagal actually made it pretty far that year . learned from my mistakes though, became a little more of a dog player ,and a lot less of a big fave player and has payed off since then.
