Field to make the final table would be more like 1-5 in my opinion. No way the final table consists of only names on that list.

Although, there has to be a sponsor sportsbook that is good with prop bets who would take our action on Jack and Book. Someone should get something going here.

Men the Master is going to have a good showing this year after getting sucked out on in '04. I think a woman is finally going to make the final table as well.

I'll take Men Ngyuen and Annie Duke.

On the course!
6,600 in the field, and odds on about 100 of them?

Unlike a real sporting event, where the best will almost always beat the "pretenders", this thing is anyone's game!

Wouldn't you think a "field" wager would have to be left off of the betting board this early in the event?

Plus, the odds they are giving are a joke! Even the best players should be well above 100/1 IMO.

Fishman at 100-1 seems like a bet to me. Phil Ivey is always the table captain whoever he sits with, but at 30-1 I'll pass that one. He should have made the Final Table in 03 if LuckyMaker didn't suckout for the 90th time.

What book are these odds from? I might throw a couple $10 bets out there myself. Obviously purely for entertainment value, but it'd be fun to have someone to cheer for...

theres value in zero of those lines. None.

6600 entrants + they are gonna try and squeeze a few more in I've been told. Getting 100 to 1 on anyone is a joke.

Do you guys realize how much luck you need to make the final 9 in a field of almost 7k. I don't care how good you play. Ask any person on that betting list and they will all tell you those odds are a joke. Maybe 1 or 2 of them make it, but trying to pick which one is like playing a slot machine with bad payouts.

I do hope you hit Wareeagle, love to see you make some dough, but there is zero value in any of them.

BDB, I agree the odds are light, but don't forget after everyone plays one day the field will be cut in half. It's not out of the question to say over 3/4 of the entrants won their seat on-line and are mostly hacks with at least half of them being dead money. Sure it will take luck, but there will be 3 or 4 pro's at the final table.

I'd have to agree. There is no value here. With 6600 people competing for 9 seats, the straight odds of any one individual making it that far (assuming all players are equal in ability) is 1 in 733.

Interesting to see that Moneymaker is considered only slightly more likely to make it to the final table than James Woods or even Mr. Kotter (Gabe Kaplan). Then again, highly unlikely any of them make it...so it doesn't matter.

Penguinfan. I will book any amount of money you want that 3 or 4 pros won't be at the final table. Maybe 1. Maybe. Last year in a field of 2500 there were exactly 2 tournament pros at the final table Ariah and Harrington. Raymer wasn't. He played a lot but worked full time as a lawyer. David Williams was a struggling wanna-be pro. Not that he isn't good or not significantly better now, but he was a full time student at the time. Only since has he gone pro. Thats only 2 in a field of 2500. Now you are gonna get a field of 6600.

I used to know Danny back in the day and played a good deal with him when he was coming up in the late 1990's at the mirage. He always talked about it then that the main event should be a pot-limit game and I whole-heartedly agree with him. There is much more skill post-flop. Now it's a game of moving in and that's what internet players do best. Only about 20 percent of the field is gonna come from online qualifiers. But I would say at least 50 or 60 percent of the field will be online players if not more. They aren't even close to dead money. There isn't any dead money in the main event. Maybe 100 players thats it. Look at Varkoni three years ago. There has never been a worse champion. Moneymaker isn't a great force either. But varkoni tops the cake.

And for all the pub these players get, almost 80% of that list is backed in these tournaments and over half are broke. Tournament poker has so much luck invloved in it if you are talking fields of 7k. And the problem with all these so called on-line qualifiers that pros and others have to deal with is that they are unknowns and very difficult to put on a hand. Plenty of those big names you see up there are broke. I don't think people understand the bankroll needed to be an tournament player including expenses. It's enormous. Only about 20 people can do it on their own.

There is also 4 days of opening play this year as opposed to 2 last year. The field won't be cut in half early. I don't play tournaments. I'm happy 4 tabling the 15s and making a nice living. I'm not jealous of anyones success and wish everyone the best of luck. Maybe you are right and some pros will make the final table, but i'd bet anything that more than 2 don't. I guess it also depends on your definition of pro. But no chance of more than 2 on that list making it. I'd be surprised if one did.

Anyway, gl with your plays penguin and if you are playing in it this year, hope you jack and bound are sitting there in mj's gear.
