Looking at the cards-pirates over 8.5

This is a perfect spot for two struggling lineups to start scoring some runs again. The Cardinals bats defiantly underachieved against the Giants pitching over the weekend. Tonight they face a pitcher in which they absolutely dominated in the past. Fogg has allowed 40 runs in 40 innings in his career against the Cards. He is not a type of pitcher that has the ability to shut down a lineup when he is on. He is almost guaranteed to allow at least 3 runs every time he steps on the mound, and rarely pitches past 6 innings. He is not a pitcher that pitches better at home, as he comes into this game with a near 5 home era (slightly higher than his career road era). The cards always seem to do their best hitting in the first game of the series, and have some players in tonights lineup that have ridiculous numbers against Fogg. Puljos and Walker are two of the Cards that have dominated fogg, both of which had the day off yesterday to rest. When most people think of Mulder they think of a dominant pitcher. That status seems to be reflected in tonights over under line. In reality, he is one of the most overrated pitchers, who has always struggled on the road. Although he has some pretty impressive career numbers against the Pirates, his last start against them was very mediocre. This is also the third start this year against the Pirates, something that should work in the hitters advantage today. Most of the Pirates best hitters prefer southpaws.
