Kosar and Stevie make some very realistic points here.....

I seriously doubt any lasting democracy is going to be planted in Iraq....as much as they are fighting us you can damn well say they will be fighting whoever is in charge when we leave....

If we are ever going to leave that $hithole then we have to train a force to deal with thier own internal struggle.....I can easily see some radical hijack that trained army and we end up with another Saddam at the end of it all....

This "constitution" they're dreaming up will be saturated with Islam and religion, women will still be treated like subhumans.....

I say train thier army, pull up the tent stakes, and let them get to wherever they're going to end up....if they want to fight let'em fight.....if they want civil war let them fight and bleed and bury thier own dead....it damn well worked for us 140 years ago......

I agree with that Marco--and can't see any other conclusion in the end but that.

Wow DTB thats a lot you just said. I have to say when I here what I do about there so call constitution. I do feel same way. They don't seem to understand we have paid a high price. That being America. And it don't look like they will ever catch on.
With that said. Many tried to warn the administration. But no one was listening.

I thought that I remember John Kerry while running for president said that he "had a plan for Iraq." Has he ever revealed that plan? Maybe he is waiting for Bush to reveal his plan?

Kerry did have a plan - it was at JohnKerry.com. I can't remember the details though. Of course he never bothered to talk about it in detail while campaigning.

Basically, I think he was going to try and pull the UN back into it and, decrease the number of Americans needed, and probably have a strategy that would get most Americans home before the end of his term. Probably not much more different that what Bush will try to do from this point on, except Kerry would probably be more diplomatic/accomodating with Europe.

The damage was done when everyone gave Bush the power for war and he basically abused it. There's no real good way out now. I agree with all of you who say it doesn't really matter how long we're there because we can't force our way of life on them. At the same time though, it's very irresponsible to leave the place a mess. I suppose the best thing is to be somewhere inbetween.

I just wish the damn people who got us into it would be honest about it....honest about ANYTHING would be a start.

I think you are right. I remember something that involved the UN which seemed like a bad idea to many at THAT time. Maybe it doesn't seem so bad now.
