Need a little help with non-lined games....

Buddy of mine puts together a pool each week during CFB season which lists 15 games, all of which must be picked ATS. The list consists of SEC games, the Memphis game and other top 25 games to fill out the 15 games each week.... This week there are 2 non-lined games on the sheet, which he simply hangs a number on....

Arkansas (-35') vs SW Mizzou St.
Miss St. (-28') vs Murray St.

...here's question 1.... Can either or both of these schools cover the large chalk against DIIA schools? My thinking is that Miss St. covers vs Murray, but since Arkansas has USC on deck and will likely play 2nd and 3rd stringers to avoid injuries, they may not cover vs SW. Mizzou.... Thoughts???

...here's question 2.... I've already decided which side I'm going with in 8 of the 15 games.... 2 of the undecided ones are listed above.... here are the other 5.... I've listed the game, line and my initial lean.... What do you guys think about these....

Alabama (-23') vs MTSU (lean to MTSU)
L'ville (-21') @ Kentucky (lean to L'ville)
USC (-33') @ Hawaii (lean to Hawaii)
Texas (-39') vs UL Laf (lean to UL Laf)
Ohio St. (-14') vs Miami, OH (lean to Miami, OH)

...all opinions are welcome, but I'd just as soon you didn't write a 3 page diatribe, Scott. :)

I like all of your leans on the bottom 5, I'd take all of those if I had to pick in those games.

In the 2 games above, I'd take both div 2A teams. Especially Murray St over Miss. St. It seems like those div 2A teams really gear up and try to play their hearts out against those teams, where the div 1A teams expect the win, and its sometimes a lot closer than people would have thought.

Remember last year when Miss St. lost to Maine at home???

I was looking at the Lafayette game. It'll be a scrimmage for Texas. They'll clearly be looking ahead to Ohio State. Can't imagin the starters going much past halftime or them doing much to run up the score after that. They can get through the game safely without exposing much of their playbook to Ohio State coaches.

Plus, Lafayette's QB (forget the name) is probably good enough to rally for a score or 2 late to get the cover.

I want the line to hit 40 because I know how well 40 point dogs traditionally do.

i agree on texas. they are notorious for putting up 35-42 points in the first half of these early season "scrimmages", then really shutting it down, sometimes not scoring in the second half. i like ull and the 40 points :)

i also agree on hawaii. will usc score 50-60 pts? probably. my money says hawaii gets 28. usc's defense will have some trouble early, and then will probably relax once leinhart and co has secured the win. hawaii gets a little early and a little late for the cover. this will also be a big "bailout" game for losing bettors on the early games, as the hawaii games always are, and i believe there will be plenty of public $ on the trojans.

only one i really disagree on is alabama. i think they really put the hammers to mtsu here. don't have my info, but will try to post some reasoning later.
