Miami -0.5 (1st Quarter) over Cincinnati: I like the Redskins...errr, Redhawks to jump out early. The preppies will be heavily into their Crown and Coke and cheering wildly while the city kids from the 'Nati will still be pounding Hudepohl in the parking lot. Miami will get a quick couple of scores early and then the game should settle down. I had to pay -120 for the line, but it will cash.

A few 1-AA picks...

A few 1-AA picks...

E. Washington +8 over Portland St.: The road to the Big Sky Championship still must go through E. Washington (which is in Cheney, WA). Last week's stumble against Idaho St. was more a matter of sloppy play by EWU than great play by ISU. Look for EWU to clean it up this week and turn the offense loose. QB Erik Meyer leads Division 1-AA in passing and will put points on the board. As long as the defense can keep Portland St. running back Joe Rubin in check, they should win this game. I'll take the 8 points at home in a game where EWU should probably be a slight favorite.

Valparaiso +16 over Austin Peay: These two teams are possibly the worst in Division 1-AA, (although Butler may take offense to that claim) and you shouldn't allow young children to watch this game. But, 16 points is too many for AP to cover with their horrendous defense. Valpo's passing game is not pathetic and their kicking game is solid. That is enough to keep this one within two touchdowns.

N. Iowa -8 over W. Illinois: This game opened at 7 yesterday and I was able to grab that unbelievable number but 8 is still fine. We are getting great value here because of NIU laying an egg against Iowa and Iowa's subsequent poor performance against Ohio St. This will not be a game as N. Iowa's balanced offense will wear on W. Illinois. Look for WIU to continue to turn the ball over (15 times already this year) and for NIU to take advantage. I have this one lined at -22.

Vandy -14.5 over MTSU: I've said on a few other posts this year but I'll say it again--the Sun Belt is rotten this year. This is even by Sun Belt standards. MTSU has shown an inability to score the entire season and this should continue against Vandy. The Commodores are in the middle of a 5 game home stretch that ends with LSU and Georgia. This is a spot where they could get caught looking ahead but i'm don't think so. They have a chance to break into the top twenty and haven't gone 5-0 since the 40's. This won't be Vandy's best performance but they have too much balance and size to not cover the two TD's. The under is tempting at 44 but, after watching Miami and UC last night, the backdoor scares me. Call it 31-10, Vandy.

Florida Atlantic +38.5 over Louisville: FAU should have a little bit of success running the ball against Louisville which will slow the game down enough to keep this one within 5 TD's. Louisville will use the second half to prepare for their upcoming conference game.

Boston College/Ball St. under 53.5: The question here is, "Can Boston College score over 53.5?" because it's unlikely Testicle Tech will score at all. BC is a good, physical team but I don't see them interested in setting any scoring records with the rugged schedule ahead of them. This will be a good game for them to work on the running game and keep the clock rolling.

Wisconsin/Indiana over 46.5: Wisky will have no problem moving the ball against the pathetic Hoosier defense. The key here will be for Indiana to pick up some late scores after the Badgers put the game away. That should happen because Indiana's new coach will keep them playing until the game is over. Also, this game has gone over this number 6 out of the last 7 times they have played. This total opened at 46, went to 49 and has settled around 47. There are a few 46.5's around so grab the extra half if you can (though you won't need it).

Arkansas St. -2.5 over ULM: This should be an interesting game with Arkansas St.'s running back Antonio Warren running for about 250 yards and ULM throwing for 300. The only reason I'm not playing the over is that the turnover potential scares me. But, I do like Arkansas St. laying less than a FG on the road. I like their running game to control the game in the second half and for their defense to make enough big plays to get the big Sun Belt win.

Wisky -17 (-115) over Indiana: Indiana is a bad 3-0 team. Wisky proved itself to me last week with their come from behind win against Michigan. The Hoosiers will put some points on the board late but not nearly enough to cover this number.

Boston College -21.5 (1st half) over Ball St.: BC runs out to a big lead and then starts practicing for next week. Ball St. may not cross midfield.

That is it for today...I'm off to the Jake to cheer on the Tribe.
