If things could be summed up in a simple manner.............
CONTRERAS is 0-2 when starting against ANAHEIM with an ERA of 6.75 and a WHIP of 1.500.
His team's record is 0-3 (-3.3 units) in these starts. And Vegas opens this one with him as the $185 fav. The Halo's swept the WS here the last series they battled also.

As game one goes, so goes the series IMO. If the ever frightening Conteras still has his shitt together, and the WS can get some hits off a REAL pitching staff instead of the carnival Boston trotted out, they have a very strong shot to move on. Forget the travel BS, I've been saying (locally) since the start of the playoffs that the WS would get past Boston and hoped they would face LAA. I think the bigger factor here is the inevitable let down after overcoming a ton to beat the Yanks. I think the Yanks would have been a far stronger opponent for the WS than the Angels. I think it was also apparent the monster success the Halo's pen was having was shown to be weakening a bit in the Yanks series. They are going to have trouble over coming problems in the starting rotation for a second series and IMO can't expect their pen to carry the load right now. The Halo's bats will be facing a pitching staff that looked very strong against the best offense in baseball while they have to put a lot of stress on much of their own pitching staff that hasn't had to carry it this season. All under the lights of the ALCS. This won't be the same WS team that got swept at home. This also won't be the same Angel team that swept the WS at home. The WS only enemy in this series is themselves and Ozzie is keeping an eye out. As a team I think they are hitting on all cylinders right now and I don't think we will see any outfielders run into each other.

I think this is going to be a fun series. The winner of this one wins it all
