I have no doubt USC rallies and wins this game going away. However, since I'm staying in tonight, let's say USC loses tonight for discussion's sake. Who becomes the front-runner to play Texas in the Rose Bowl, esp. now that the Canes got knocked off as well? Penn State?

im no computer guy, but heard some talk that usc could survive a loss and still play in the rose bowl. that sounds like a stretch, although it certainly wouldnt be unprecedented.

I thought about that as I typed it. There would be a handful of one-loss teams that would have legit arguments. I assume it'd come down to PSU, LSU and USC.

unless usc just gets routed in the 2h, they probably still go to the rose bowl with miamis loss. penn st. just doesn't have the resume.

although, i bet the "joe pa" factor might influence quite a few of the human voters.

other people will complain, but isn't this similar to the usc/lsu sit 3 years ago?

Yes. And Penn State would beat Texas.

lol, Penn State is one team I'm confident we'd wipe the floor with.

**** that, I want USC. but i'm not rooting for them tonight. their all-world players will just have to pull another one out of their ass for the comeback win...again.

I think that's what Miami thought in '86 also. I'd love to see it. I'd take the 7, the ml, and the win.

If USC were to somehow lose a close one tonite, but pound UCLA then I think USC still goes ahead of those teams.
The nation has been talking nothing but SC-Tx since the SC-ND game.
I think the polls keep USC 2 with a close lose.
Not bashing PSU,but who have they beaten other than OSU.
Wisc. and MSU were average wins.

USC handed Oreg. only lose and won at ND and will have to beat 1 lose UCLA.

LSU choke to Tenn hurts, but quality over Ala,Fla,Aub helps big.

1 loss LSU deserves it over the other 2 in my opinion.

I think PSU had great season, but dont deserve Title shoot.

What if the sun dont come up tomorrow?

A&M is awful and it looks like Reggie is out. That may help A&M the way he is playing.

Do you really think you can cap with me? LMAO. I'll tell you what. If they make it, we'll just go straight up.

Why would Texas wipe the floor with Penn St.?
I am not a Penn St. fan but Im curious why they would wipe the floor with them.
Penn St. is a team that no one should want to play. They're also a team that will never get blown out. They have a very strong defense, they run the ball, and they can throw when needed.
Not to mention their defense is smart...they might not have speed like Miami, GT, or any other speedy defense (thats not as good as theirs) but they play smart, and some how always come up with a big play.
I would love to see that match up happen.
One team that I can remember that has moved the ball on Penn St. consistantly was Northwestern when they began to peak and in my opinion they would have put 50 up on anyone in the country with their spread offense...at that time.
I am not an expert on Penn St. and not even close to an expert on Texas. What I know about Texas is what you, The Judge, Sun Tzu, and a couple others say. These are just my opinions and Im trying to have conversation in case that would happen. Plus I think it would be interesting. :)

What are your thoughts on why Texas is superior to Penn St?

Thanks!

Would love to see the trojans lose tonight. They've been dominant for a few years now so it would be great to see a couple of different teams in the big game in Jan. I agree that a texas loss would also be a defining situation for the BCS as it is in desperate need of a system change in regard to a proper play-off system. Top 4 or even 8 teams at seasons end would make for an interesting finale.
