Historically I have worked on some aviation cases. My expert. former NTSB guy, threatened to never work with me again after he found out I did it. Apparently they have a crash every so often. The helicopters get to close to the waterfalls and the volcanoes and that causes issues. It was a little disconcerting to get in and the pilot wore a tanktop and no shoes. But obviously we lived and it was very enjoyable, white knuckles and all.

Lived in lahaina for 2 years, best restaurant on the island is Mama' Fish House, a must!! Definitley do thr han trip, they will say don't go all the way around but definitley do!! Best pictures you'll get on the island are...wake up real early (3 am ) and take a trip up the volvano and watch the sun rise, absolutley incredible, your 10,000 feet high and the sun comes right behind the crater, then you ride a bike down the whole volcano with out peddling once. If you that doesn't sound good atleast go up for sunset. Wailae is real high end, lahaina is lot more casual. The best advice i could give ya is make sure you dont spend all your time doing so many activities, make sure you have plenty of time to do nothing and relax, because everywhere you look is a perfect picture and i see tourists spending so much time with activities that they dont get what it is all about and thats plain chillin. Enjoy, its a beautiful place to visit!

Screaming/Sun,

Any recommedations for Kauai? We are only going to be in Maui for 3 days, then we will be in Kauai for 4.

I'm sorry I can't help you concerning Kauai. I've only played Princeville and it's a great golf course, but the rest of the island is a little toooooo quiet for me. Some of the Pro's go over to Princeville when they have tourney's over there.

I had my share of helicopter rides in VietNam. Only shot down once, but I'm not going to push my luck any further. I'm a licensed pilot and I understand how 'choppers work, but I won't be on one anytime soon.

I don't want to temper your enthusiasum for the trip. It's nearly impossible to have a bad time in Hawaii. As you go more often, you'll obviously find some places more attractive than others. Since you're on your first trip.....enjoy!!

If nothing else, you can always :mj14: and/or :142hump: .....

If your looking for MAUI WOWIE

If your looking for MAUI WOWIE

Go to :
Cheeseburger in Paradise
811 Front St, Lahaina, HI 96761

Most of the staff there sell weed. Just look for the granola people or surfers. When they ask what you would like to order say " I am in MAUI you know what I want". I got a $110 sack of WOWIE with a t-shirt in a togo bag 5 minutes later and placed my food order. Great Burgers and Fries ! Enjoy. Then down the street is a great smoke shop to buy a nice pipe/bong or papers.

Do the road to Hana and the luau !!! :weed:

Congrats!

Just got back on Thursday from a 10 day Hawaii trip home base was in Oahu but we went to the big island and Kauai as well. Lost et. al are filmed on Oahu but a flight to each island is not expensive at all. We went to Teddy's bigger burger for burgers on Oahu and they were good. My dad had a conference on Oahu which is why we decided to stay there however Waikiki is a train wreck (crowded expensive etc) but the Arizona is a must see. Most of the time on Oahu was spent on the north shore which was fantastic until the winds changed and the surf went from 6-8 to 25+ which is a no go for me. We typically stopped a fruit stand and loaded up then hit the beach. Whoever recomended Snorkel Bob's for gear is right on the mark, great gear and prices (had a 4 y/o with us and they had gear to fit him). All in all you will have a fantastic time, depending on how long you are there definetly island hop, one great experience was getting sushi in a food court (15 bucks for enough sushi/sashimi for two! the boy had McD's). All in all the locals are very helpful just greet them with an aloha or owsit and enjoy!

Going in April on my honeymoon as well. C20916 where are you staying on Kauai. We had it down to the Radisson and the Marriott but picked the Radisson. It's like flipping coins if you haven't been. Would people recommend playing on Kauai or Mauai. Kauai's course @ the marriott looks nice. Good luck on the honeymoon.

Jinx we are staying at the Marriott in Kauai that is right by the airport. I am going to play Popiu Bay on Kauai and probably the wailea gold course in Maui.

I can't wait, I am ready to leave today. have to wait another week though.

I am disappointed in American though, a 9 hour flight and you're going to make me buy food on the plane. Give me a break.

C2 let me know how it was when you get back. We still have time to change from the Radisson to the Mariott if it's worth it. Thanks and have a great time.

OK just got back yesterday and I didn't want to come back, it was great.

Monday did the sunrise bike tour down Halealaka (sp?) it was worth it to go up there and bike down, although I just assume take my rental car up there and save the $115 for the tour. In the afternoon we went to the Iao valley, on the recommendation of our tour guide. Was neat to see, but wasn't much you could do there.

Tuesday played gold at Wialea Gold course, was the first tee time off at 6:38 played in 2 1/2 hours, 3 putted about every green. In the afternoon went to the twin island falls, very neat. It's on the road to Hana, but we didnt' want to go all the way to Hana. Stopped at Mama's for some drinks and appetizers, final bill for 3 drinks and 3 app's $100 :scared

Wed flew to Kauai just hung out at the hotel pool/beach.

Thursday, played Popui Beach, great course, stunning views. Thur afternoon went to Wiamea canyon, that's a site to see.

Fri hung out at hotel and went to Popui beaches.

Sat did the helicopter tour, it was neat, but I was feeling queazy when I got off.

That was pretty much the trip, we ate at Roy's on Maui, and did the Laui at Lahania. In Kauai we ate at the beachouse, Duke's, and Brick Oven Pizza.

I'll see if I can get some pics posted later on tonight.

Jinx,

I didn't see the radisson, but I would definatley recommend the Mariott. It's close to the airport, has the biggest pool on the island, has a nice beach area. We loved it

c20916,

Did a lot of the same things you did on Maui on different days, it is a wonder we didn't run into each other...

We did the Haleakala bike tour Thursday morning...

The road to Hana Wednesday morning, Mama's Fish House Wednesday Night $100 for us as well: three beers, one appetizer, and a shared main course..!!!

We got into Kahului around 4pm on Sunday from Chicago, wonder if we were on the same flight... I did meet a guy leaving the plane that was going to stay in Wialea..Could that have been you? I think his wife's name was Nicole???

That's funny I was on that flight, but no that wasn't me. I am sure you don't remember but we were sitting in the row right in front of the big screen.

Phenom... yeah, i've been to Maui.. does the fact that HI was only a state for 8 years at that point, and the fact i was only 8 years old make any difference in wanting an opinion on it??? ;)
