Chicago
Played Pitt at -4 (-115) and a day later it's at -5.5.

Bears D will not bail out Orton again.

That Bears D has been bailing out Orton all season. They will be in this game. The only thing that scares me is Pittsburgh's ability to disguise the blitz. Orton may make a few bad reads and turn the ball over which could be deadly for the Bears

The Steelers are hurting big time losers of 3 in a row,i cant believe these Bears are this good winners of 8 in a row. Those 8 include,G.B.,SF,NO,Det,Bal,Minny,TB and Carolina looks like the panthers are the only tough team there.Would not be surprised if the Bears get rolled in a big way in this game in Pitt.Huge test for Kyle on the road against a team that is desperate.I would say Orton will be good for a few picks and i would not be surprised if he is picking himself off the ground all afternoon. The steelers have the 4th best defense against the rush 89 ypg.If this Bears team ever falls behind in a game i cannot see them catching up through the air.I was hearing that Grossman is ready to come back from his injury, dont know how true that is.Looks like he is listed day to day in the injury report.

Orton...1591 yards...9/13

soul train has it. if the bears fall behind and the steelers have the 4th best defense against the run then mr orton will have to go to the air alot in this game. personally t.j is not a good running back but he is consistent. so if percentages play out the steelers will definitely stop the bears running attack forcing orton to go to the air and if the bears cant run then the pressure comes down on the defense of the bears this wk. again. the bears d-fense can bail out the offense only so much until everything catches up with them.

Bears Brass is looking for a loss. Bears want to lose. Not in the conventional sense, but in the real sense. Everyone on the sidelines knows that the Bears cannot go into the playoffs and expect to win with the rookie Orton. They are in a catch-22 because they can't exactly pull a starting quarterback who's been under center on a seven game winning streak. Rumor or whatever you want to call it says that they badly want Grossman to get back in there. The problem is like I said they can't pull Orton with the run they've been on. To go deeper with their D even, they have to score some points. Very difficult to do with the rookie Orton. He just doesn't look good regardless of their streak. I think Orton ends up on his ass and has a brutal game. I think the bears get their ass handed too him, and Lovie and the others use it as an excuse to get Grossman back in there heading into the playoffs. I could see the Bears getting shut out and Orton fed to the dogs. Pitt is gonna be real hungry, and its an absolute must win for them. Sure Chicago needs the win, but not near as bad as the Steelers.

So. Cal
pitt has had an absolute must win three weeks in a row and went
loss
loss
loss
so orton sucks...he has all year.....does anybody watch the other side of the ball????

the bears defense preys off turnovers.....how did big ben look in the turnover dept last week? how's that running game looking? how's that defense looking the past 3 games.

true, pitt is the more desperate team....but the bears still are using the no respect angle.....will ride em again.

fyi-rex has been the #3 qb the last 2 weeks and is ready to be the #2 qb.....orton still has the job but lovie has finally sounded off about better production.....still hard to see rex put in for orton as rex has 6 games of nfl exp and hasnt played in a real game in 16 months

great post gjn. Sure the Steelers are desperate, but weren't they desperate last week??? Last week's game meant either a tie for the division lead or being two games back. They had a team at their house who they had already rolled earlier in the season. And yet they still managed to go out and look awful. Dropped passes, long kickoff returns, interceptions... how are you not even focused in a game of that magnitude?!

I made the mistake of betting on the Steelers last week using the "homefield advantage -- big divisional game -- must win" scenario. Well, we all know where that got me. I think if you're going to bet on a team because it's a must-win situation, you have to make sure that team has a lot of heart. I don't think the Steelers do. Their defense got absolutely rolled by Cincy and played with no pride whatsoever. While I don't think the Bears will score a bunch of points in this game, why would they have to??? Their D has shut down teams all year long. The Steelers won't run the ball on them and if it's left up to Ben, well, I don't think the Steelers have much of a chance. The guy is a good QB but he's obviously hurt. Every time he got hit last week he looked he might come out of the game. I'm expecting a Tommy Maddox sighting at some point on Sunday. Well, I should say I'm PRAYING there's a Tommy Maddox sighting.

And lastly, not only are the Bears playing with the no respect angle, they are still playing for homefield throughout the playoffs. They will be hungry too. Just my opinion, and I could very well be wrong, but I think getting 6 with that Bears defense is a gift no matter what the situation.

Letdown

Letdown

This will be a huge let me repeat that huge letdown game for the Bears. The Pack had beaten them 11 straight times at Soildier field before that game before the season Lovie said it was more important to beat Green Bay than it was to win the Division. I don't care if the Packers had only won 2 games this will be a letdown game. Plus Pittsburgh won't be stupid enough to throw it over 60 times. Pittsburghs strength is stopping the run and thats all the Bears can do.

I disagree, I actually think the Bears were looking past the 2-10 pack, I mean after all they gave up a touchdown to them and looked like they got outplayed at certain points in the game....Just wasn't the best overrall performance from them as a whole.

I look for the Bears to play this weekend like they did against Carolina.....still getting no respect, all the so-called "experts" are on the Steelers saying the Bears can't throw, cant come from behind. Well what if they don't have to come from behind? Bears will be fired up to play this game and to answer more critics.......

better check the status on ben's hand think it may be a little worse than he is leading people to believe? Look for pitt to slow this game down to the bears liking as cower know's he does not want to put this game in ben's hands either. can't see more than one TD in this one unless the "D"'s do it.

Well, Pitt had a must win game last week against Cincy, who has an explosive offense. And their D is pretty good.
Pitt's D contained Colts all game after that first play. If Ben doesn't throw that pick before half and Steelers don't onside kick, who knows.
Bears offense is horrible. Only way they win this game is for defense to score or set up incredibly short drive for offense.
I like Pitt a lot here.

Looks like this thread has generated a pretty good debate! I find myself in agreement with Dice yet again. I thought the Bears would roll GB last week and they played poorly. If not for a late pick 6 they would have only won that game by 5 points. I don't expect them to play poorly two weeks in a row.

The Bears haven't played the toughest schedule in the league, but as gjn points out, they shut down a good Carolina team and beat a good TB team on the road. I think the bottom line is this... no matter what Chicago does this year they won't get any respect? Why? Because they don't have a good QB. People have a tough time seeing a team as a legitimate contender if they don't have a QB who puts up big stats. The thing is, you don't need that. Just ask Trent Dilfer and the Ravens of a few years ago. Nobody gave that team any respect all the way up to and including the Super Bowl. Same goes for TB... Chris Simms isn't great so they get little to no respect. Meanwhile, it seems like everyone is in love with mediocre teams like Atlanta and Cincy.

I expect this to be a low-scoring defensive struggle type of game. Pretty much all Bears games are. To get 6 points with them in a game that could very well not even crack 24 points seems like a great value to me. Just my opinions... good luck to all.

a letdown???

other than the colts the bears are one of the most consistant teams in the nfl (albeit not pretty)

their defense comes to play EVERY WEEK
their offense will rush for 100-150 yrds and will throw for 120 yrdss or so
they will rely on field position and defense to create scoring opptys and if they dont turn the ball over they will be in every game

been that way for every game except cincy where orton threw 5 picks....not sure why you think all of a sudden a letdown is coming......the offense cant get any worse and the defense has a goal of #1 in the nfl and 15 td's scored....they still have work to do....plus the queens are still on their heels and they are fighting for home field and a bye in the playoffs.

:mj01: just my opinion i feel that the bears are a really good team that is underated but why can the bears give the bucaneers last week and be under dawgs against the steelers this week by a large margin something is not right. i love to play the bears but this week does not seem right. the odds makers know by now how good the bears are the lines are really acurate by this time of the season. so how can the steelers be giving 5.5 against a bears squad that has dominated most teams they have faced. thats why im going the opposite way and will play the steelers and under softly

I don't think Lovie will have a problem pulling Orton if he continues to struggle. I just don't think Rex is ready to come back yet, but he is getting close which I think is why Lovie finally addressed the situation.

I don't know if we'll see Rex this week, but if Orton is struggling next week against Atl I think we might see Rex.

As for a letdown, give me a break, the bears want more than anything to wrap up the division before that final week with Minny, they don't want the division being decided by that game. Plus like many have said already the D gets up to play every week.
