Sun Tzu - totally agree with you - sort of. The Pac 10 is weak - weak in comparison to what? How would you go about assessing strength in a conference? And, like you say, even if you could, would it make a difference? I guess the whole thing is an exercise in futility. Even if we had a playoff the losers would always say "what if?".

ferd, i think you misunderstood my statements in the beginning of this thread. bunch of losers = Fresno St., not USC. I was saying that Reggie Bush was going to win the Heisman for running all over a terrible team.

YES, USC is a good team.

NO, they do not play in a strong conference.

NO, Fresno St. is not a good team. (or if they are, you guys need to give Auburn a quality win for beating La Tech last year)

Anyway, it will be interesting to see what happens in the Rose Bowl. USC very well may pound Texas like they did OU last year, but like Sun said, it won't change the entire conference or USC.

And yes, USC did beat Auburn in 2002 and 2003. I watched both games and I admit that USC was the better team.

Anyway, I was very intoxicated when I started this thread and just wanted to stir up some west coasters. :mj14:

AU2001 - thanks for comments - you've earned my respect. I did misunderstand what you said. Auburn is a good team for sure and has been. I am not so sure Pac 10 is all that weak, but certainly isn't near top in depth year in and year out.

I think SC beats Texas based on coaching as much as anything else. Plus, I think that Texas is forced to rely on Vince far too much. If Bush goes down or Leinhart plays like he did against UCLA, they have other options - not as good, but options. Not sure what would happen to Texas if Vince goes down. Can't imagine Pete C.not devising game plan and defense to frustrate Texas. He has shown he can do it against Oklahoma and Iowa. I am not saying that Mack Brown isn't a good coach, but I don't think that he will figure a way to stop USC even in the month he has. Look at UCLA, certainly not in the class of Texas, but they had 3 weeks to prep for USC. Didn't help them too much. Can't imagine what Pete will be able to do in a month.
