After beating my alma mater the beloved Penn Quakers without breaking a sweat (ie not covering by 10),it would appear that the Dukies will atone for the narrow luck job win vs Vatech with a supreme effort and ATS win vs Texas Sat.That is two subpar efforts mentally in a row. They were looking ahead, pure and simple and will play their asses off Sat.I'm playing Duke,no matter the number.GL either way

This is a high profile matchup and the ATS outcome will be decided in the last 10 seconds of the game.

I know you've been around long enough to realize this crap.

One big advantage Duke will have is outside shooting. Of course that can probably be said for Duke against every team, but except for Gibson Tx doesn't have anyone who can fill it up outside the arc.
Buckman can occasionally, but much more of a mid range guy, Tucker is a slasher/rebounder, and Williams just pounds the glass.
Aldridge is the X factor IMO. Only a Sophmore and was hurt most of last year, but can be absolutely dynamic. I f Duke contains him, they win easy.

buckman and atchley can both shoot 3s....and are pretty much unguardable from there. Paulino and Abrahms can also shoot from the outside....but definitely not the accuracy of a JJRedick.

Texas may have the best starting 5 out there...but the bench is young and somewhat inexperienced.

I'd take Duke here though unless they are laying double digits or something crazy like that....Duke seems to own Texas.

considering its a neutral court, id be amazed if duke was more than a 3.5 point favorite on saturday afternoon.

ok, I guess I should have said that Gibson is the main outside threat, since he puts it up about 3 times as much as everyone else.

and how does Duke own Texas? Can only recall one recent matchup, which was 2 yrs ago. Big Duke blowout, but I could be wrong.

I agree Dukes experience will play a major role. Don't think Tx's young guys are ready to win this type of game. We'll see

looked it up myself, another Duke blowout in 2000.
Don't know if that means anything this year, but you are right Duke has really dominated this matchup

offensive rebounding will determine this game. duke is really struggling with their chemistry trying to get their freshman used to their system. until mcroberts starts to assert himself and paulus stops making turnovers duke will struggle. i like texas myself to dominate the glass and win this game. i think the loss of shav randolph has left a greater void than expected. by the way last night he scored 10 pts and had 7 boards for philly. not bad for a 150k player when he outplays all four unc 1st round picks plus bogut on the same night. looks like he made the right decision to go pro.

I'm a big Duke fan but I think you have to go with Texas in this game. Texas should pound Duke on the glass. Williams is Duke's only decent rebounder and he will simply be outmanned on the glass by Aldridge, Buckman, and Tucker. McRoberts just isn't assertive enough yet to help out.

Also, Duke's freshmen look lost right now trying to run the system. They look a bit confused on the offensive end and utterly lost on the defensive end. Reddick and Williams can only do so much.

one thing i like about Texas is their confidence...when they were down to WVa...they didnt give up. same with Iowa.

granted WVa pretty much gave them that game with the missed FTs, but reading in the austin paper the next morning...the players seemed confident they could pull out both games even though they were losing pretty big in both.

both teams are excellent. i like barnes, but i have to admit that coach K can outcoach him. i hope has his team prepared but i just dont think the horns can win this one just yet.

Anything in either MSG or Meadowlands is NOT neutral for Duke. HUGE alumni support in the North East and crowd will be 75/25 in favor of Blue Devils. Went to match-up with Kentucky a few years back and even that crowd was 70/30 Duke and Kentucky travels better than anyone. Still homecourt may not help if someone other than Redick or Williams steps up on offense...
