Panthers.com

Comments from Carolina Panthers head coach John Fox following the team's practice.

On injuries: DeShaun Foster: toe, questionable, missed a portion of practice. Kindal Moorehead: shoulder, questionable, missed a portion of practice. Dan Morgan: shoulder, questionable, missed a portion of practice. Tutan Reyes: toe, questionable, missed a portion of practice. Mike Rucker: ankle, questionable, did practice. Ken Lucas: shoulder, probable, did practice. Jeff Mitchell: hip, probable, missed a portion of practice.

On wide receiver Ricky Proehl being the last player introduced versus Dallas: He's played as the third wide out for us most of the season and he's played a lot of football for us, so we introduced him as a starter.

On if Proehl will retire after this season: I have not even talked about it or not even thought about it and I'm sure he's probably the same.

On Proehl's value to the team: I think a tremendous amount. Ricky's a good lockerroom guy. He knows the skills of the trade. I think he's helped some of our young receivers and he's helped our football team on the field.

On if Carolina has played inconsistently this season: I wouldn't call a 10-5 football team inconsistent. Eight and eight is what I call inconsistent, about half out is good and half out is bad. I would like to be 15-0, too, and I think every coach in the League would. The reality is nobody is. I don't think that we've been inconsistent. I think a lot of it is who you're playing.

On the team's mood: It's just like coming off any loss. We've been in it a few times this year, five more than we've wanted to. They came back in good spirits and working hard, and we've moved on to the next one, just like we have after all of them.

On if he is concerned about the Panthers 1-9 all-time record at Atlanta: There was a lot of talk that we hadn't beaten them at all before we played at our place (Bank of America Stadium). Talk doesn't really solve much. It is what happens on Sunday that's the proof.

On if Carolina solved the Falcons earlier this season: We did that day. It is pretty evident in this League that every game has got its own personality and every game is different. We'll have to see that on Sunday.

On how he expects Atlanta to play: Just what you expect every time professionals go on the field. We all get paid to do what we do, and I expect their best and I expect our best.

On if he is frustrated by being in a must-win situation: You've got to win every week. That's how the whole season is. I'd be more frustrated if we were 5-10 and we had this game to play. It is what it is, and we've got a must-win situation Sunday. But a lot of them have been must wins.

On the having the same five starters on the offensive line all season: This League is about staying healthy. Unfortunately, it's a very tough, physical, rough game, and the reality is guys get dinged. I would like them all to be healthy all season but I don't think there's a team in the League that's done that. It's always helpful when you don't have injuries

The moneyline is now -180 at oly.

Why is this dropping.

I would say the books are running scared.

Books are thinking......

We can't go up over -200 with the 4 point side holding fast.

And going up now , may cause some people to slam it.

I got it, put the number lower than the -185
. LOWER ?

Yeh lower!.

They will think we are begging for Panther money and play the Falcons. Its all we can do.

.........................................................

Falcons moneyline is holding fast.

It seems simple enough.

Dunn heading to finish line
Running back near 1,500-yard mark

By STEVE WYCHE
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 12/31/05
FLOWERY BRANCH ? With his salary about to quadruple to $2.5 million next season, Falcons tailback Warrick Dunn, arguably the team's most valuable player, said Thursday he wasn't so sure he'd be back next season. He doesn't want to play anywhere else, he added.

His departure would seem totally irrational, seeing as though he's on the cusp of amassing 1,500 rushing yards, was selected to the Pro Bowl and is one of the most civically-active athletes in all of sports ? a big reason image conscious owner Arthur Blank seemingly would retain him.

Stranger things have happened in the name of salary-cap management Dunn said, especially for a small running back who turns 31 next week and was never expected to make it nine years in the NFL.

"We're not stupid," President and general manager Rich McKay said Friday. "The guy continues to defy."

In other words, Dunn is in the Falcons' plans. Dunn doesn't need to validate his credentials. Yet, for a guy who has spent his entire football career proving doubters wrong, he would like to punctuate his season in today's final game against NFC South foe Carolina, with at least 113 rushing yards to get him to the 1,500-yard milestone.

"Having 1,500 yards next to your name validates everything, there's no questions," Dunn said. "You try not to leave room for people to question anything. I don't think it's life or death if I don't get the 1,500 but it would be huge.

"For the simple fact that I started out real hot, then, the last month or so, I've been dealing with a hamstring injury where I haven't been 100 percent and able to do some of the things I normally do. At the same time, I've managed to be consistent. To reach that would also be great for the guys who have been blocking for me."

Dunn made sure to credit every player and coach who helped him gain every yard he's mustered in this career-best season, which comes at a time when many NFL running backs are in the twilights of their careers ? if they've made it this far.

That darn hamstring thing, though. It could prompt doubts that he's fading down the stretch. His 273 carries have already surpassed last season's career-high of 265. In the Falcons' last game, he could not play after the third quarter in a 27-24, overtime loss to Tampa Bay that took Atlanta out of the playoff hunt.

Dunn, who has started all 15 games, has not rushed for more than 100 yards since he gained 116 on 17 carries Thanksgiving Day at Detroit.

"I had a big spasm a few weeks back and it felt like I had pulled something but I had strength in the leg," Dunn said. "I need time for this to heal. I've had hamstring problems in the past that gradually got better, but this one is weird because it keeps moving. I can deal with it."

Dunn's last 100-plus yard effort came in one of two Falcons' victories in the past seven games. The dual dry spells have left Atlanta (8-7) out of the playoff race, leaving today's game one for morale and potential history (first back-to-back winning seasons).

The failed playoff run won't tarnish Dunn's season, coach Jim Mora said.

"There is nothing the guy has to prove to us or anyone out there," Mora said. "I think he has proven what type of player he is, but it sure would be neat for have 1,500 in the records books. So when he looks back after his career, he can tell his grandkids that he rushed for 1,500 in 2005."

..................................................................................

Dunn can tell his grandkids 1500 in 2005 ! Mora thanks for tipping your hand there .

Dunn's salary is going up to 2.5 million next year and he says he is going to maybe not be back. Yeh ..... RIGHT.

I might have fallen off the turnip truck but that was years ago.

In order for Dunn to get this record he is going to have to carry the ball 20-30 times.
This is far more than he normally carrys.

Key on Dunn and contain him .......... Game over.

Geezz I really should tell the Panthers this.

Chris Draft (44 tackles, 2 sacks)

More than likely will be taking over for Morgan at Linebacker.

Guy is really pissed the Falcons let him go. His family is here, I
am predicting a monster game from Chris Draft.

He will be one crazed football player.

I can hear it now,

Chris Draft crushs Warrick Dunn for a loss in the backfield !.... Isnt that Chris Draft. Isnt that the guy that used to play for the Falcons.

Yeh.....thats him

Wow I wish the Falcons still had him.

Find enough emotion on a given team, and the winning play will come.

Another outstanding thread, KOD. Game isn't over and as we both know, you can't call it until it is, but looks very good right now.
