JDP,

I'll give you 4 good reasons to play Auburn:

1. Auburn is 8-2 at home.

2. Auburn is winless in the SEC (0-4). The Tigers will put forth maximum effort tonight.

3. Currently, a consensus report I use shows 70% on Kentucky.

4. Kentucky is the worst high-profile team I have seen all year.

I personally am on Kentucky. I think people have over-reacted to how bad Kentucky really is. Their 6 losses are all against good teams. They probably should have been able to win the 'Bama and Vandy games at home, but nonetheless, they are good teams. They also have some blowout losses on the road, which should have been more competitive but those once again are above average teams.

Auburn, yes, has only lost 2 games at home, but they were really their only true tests. Their only other good wins at home were against Temple and I suppose you could say Winthrop. The other wins were against teams any SEC team should beat, so I don't credit the 8-2 home record as much. I think Kentucky takes this one by 10+ and gets focused again for a run at a tournament spot.

GL with the play nonetheless...just adding my view.

I appreciate your point of view. I welcome the devil's advocate. You might be right about Kentucky tonight, but this Wildcats team will not turn it around. When your two team leaders are Rondo and Morris, you're going nowhere fast! Rondo is the most overrated guard in the country. He can't make an outside shot to save his life. He receives a lot of fanfare because he plays for Kentucky. There is a reason Morris didn't go to the NBA, because his game isn't that good. He isn't even a dominant college player. Tubby is feeling the pressure for once, and betting on this Kentucky team will be a losing proposition all season long. Good luck with your play tonight!

I completely disagree about Rondo. That guy is a hell of a player. It isn't all about an outside shot. He plays great defense, can penetrate and put pressure on the defense. Love his game.

Yeah, he is a great man-to-man defender and he can rebound for a guard, but you're dead wrong about one thing. It is all about the outside shot when you're a starting guard in college basketball. College basketball games are won from behind the arc. The easy three-point shot in college has changed the game. I don't care how well Rondo can penetrate, if he can't knock down an outside shot, smart coaches will ask their defenders to play off him and dare him to shoot it. He won't penetrate a defense consistently if the defense is sagging off him. Also, he is a terrible free-throw shooter. He better hope when he does penetrate that he doesn't get fouled!

Rondo's point total at the half! How can you be a starting shooting guard and score just 2 points in one half against Auburn?

Thanks for the insight rcxslam! I couldn't have figured that out without your help. Brilliant!

Bubbles, I ain't hatin'! It just rubs me the wrong way when players without much of a game get overhyped because they play for high-profile programs. Rondo definitely falls into that category!

I know what you mean. But he is just a sophomore, and I think he has a great game. Not a shooter's game, but a great basketball player. Any coach would love him on their team.

You're right about one thing. Rondo is not a pure shooter. It's obvious that you haven't watched him play much this year. The guy is everywhere. He rebounds, plays D, and shoots 51.2% from the field. The only knock I have on him is his FT shooting and he sometimes tries to do it all himself. I don't think he is one of the top 20 guards yet, but give the guy a little credit.

Kirk,

I did give Rondo a little credit! You said, "He rebounds, plays D, and shoots 51.2% from the field." Didn't I say, "He is a great man-to-man defender and he can rebound for a guard?" We are speaking the same language bro! You're wrong, I have watched him several times this year. Sorry, I'm just not impressed. My original point was, Rondo is overhyped because he plays for Kentucky. You said, "He isn't one of the top 20 guards yet." Again, we are speaking the same language! Let's give the other 20 guards who are better than Rondo a little credit, even if they play for lesser programs. Good luck the rest of the season!
