That means nothing to me???? Not many total games I am sure.Teams they played could have sucked that particular year Just like tennessee the last two years they suck So that doesnt mean anything. What has Notre done in the last 10-15 years??? Nothing!!! Hell with BYU, WAShington, PITT,navy, syracuse and stanford on the schedule The bottom 4 SEC teams could have won 85% against those teams!! Every SEC team would have been in a bowl with those teams on the schedule! GEEZ tell me something that means something not this jibber jabber ... Join a conference and stop playing patsies and tell me something then!! As I stated before getting up for 4-5 games a year instead of 7-10 is alittle different. Those teams are like having 6 damn inter squad games a year plus a bye week. and for reference LSU Played 11 weeks in a row(NO BYE WEEK) not counting all the other bull that went on around and with there team!! TRY doing that!! Even with those patsies that would be hard much less in the SEC!! 11-2 Baby

The best athletes want to play against the best and compete in the best football conference!!

This should tell you something also:

This is how the 6 major conferences break down in terms of number of players from the top 100 per Rivals.

SEC-26
Big12-16
Big10-18
ACC-14
Pac10-18
Big East-2

*Notre Dame-6 (since they are homeless)

Of Rivals top 250 (actually 249) the SEC had 79 (32%). The next best conference (ACC) had 40 (16%).

Conf 100 250

SEC 79 26
ACC 40 14
B10 38 18
P10 38 18
B12 34 16
IND 11 6
BE 9 2

think about this: If the big ten would have had 5 teams ranked in the top 16(meaning 5 strong teams!!) Would there have been 2 in BCS bowls?(PROBABLY NOT) Would there have been 2 in top 5? (PROBABLY NOT) Why? Because there would have probably been more losses between the teams as there would have been better competition!! Hence like the SEC!

okay the way I see is that:

- Bama isn't that much better of a team then Wiscy, Mich, and/or Iowa...I mean who did they even play last year, their non-conference games were a joke...and they only beat TT by 3 points in the bowl game whom isn't much better then an Northwestern

-Auburn the SEC's best in conference team record wise getting smacked in the mouth by Wiscy the thrid best Big Ten team...they loss their season opener non-conference to Georgia Tech and we all saw how good that 7-5 team was against Utah

-Bulldogs one of the better teams for the SEC ranked about where they belong but once again only a 7 point win against 7-5 GT and the other non-conference game against WV which was basically at home was a loss...the SEC champion losing to the Big East champion and the Big East is a terrible conference so whats they say about the SEC champion...You would think the big bad SEC champ would have beaten up on the dinky Big East champ...well we all know that wasn't the case

-LSU another good SEC team that belongs where they are ranked...but just because they crushed an 9-3 Miami team doesn't make them great...try beating them when they have an 30 some game win streak in the NC...thats a great win against Miami...they did have a four point win against 7-5 ASU a non-conference game but then again it was only 7-5 team...and they also lost to a terrible Tenn team and to Geroriga for the SEC a game LSU was better off staying in the locker room for

-The Gators, okay well at least we have one SEC team that plays a good non-conference game every season...Even though they beat Iowa I think if they were to play Mich and/or Wiscy it would be close games...Just cause Florida beat FSU and PSU only lost to FSU by four does NOT mean that Florida could hang with PSU

-The Cocks the SEC sixth best team would struggle against Northwestern and I seriously doubt they could beat the Big Tens other six...but Spurrier will have this program on the up and up over the next few years...they did have a non-conference game against Clemson which they loss

Okay, so instead of saying the SEC is the second best conference I should just say teams in the SEC are OVER-RATED and several teams shouldn't be ranked where they are due to weak non-conference games...Start scheduling some better non-conference games during the season then maybe the SEC might get that title of "strongest conference"...but until then they're not at the top...and I'll take those top two Big Ten teams against any of those SEC teams any day of the week...the SEC doesn't play anyone besides teams within their conference and then they have the balls to self proclaim themselves to be the strongest conference...why?...You can't get a good measure of an conference because they don't schedule themselves against any non-conference creditable teams...oh wait their is one Florida vs FSU...but you criticized PSU for their close game with 8-5 FSU so I guess we can deem FSU as not a creditable non-conference game either...plain and simple teams in the SEC is over-rated and we'll never really know how good that conference is until they start scheduling some meaningful non-conference games

WRONG AGAIN!!! Penn st big tens best would have gotten beat three times at least in SEC Florida 4th or 5th best team in SEC pounded FLA ST and penn st got whipped up and down the field by FSU and needed a missed field goal to luck out and win. Ohio st had a good defense but there are 3 teams in the sec with just as good a defense and better offenses. They would loose several games in the SEC also!! SO WHAT ARE YOU TELLING ME???? Nothing but same oh bs The SEC is not overrated if anything its under rated you have up to Six teams that all would be fighting for the top spot in All other conferences! For example tell me any team besides USC that could beat Florida in Pac-10?? There are none 4th or 5th best in SEC There arent any for sure in big ten that could beat them ether!! So think what you want as I said. Doesnt matter anyways! People that know sports and fans that are open minded and know sports(NFL PEOPLE AND MOSTLY EVERYONE THATS INVOLVED IN SPORTS IN SOME FORM OR FASHION) think SEC is best football conference year in and out (Just like ACC is best Basketball). Which it is for a fact!!

I don't know who you've been talking too and why you think you speak for "NFL People" buts thats not the case at all. Yes, traditionally the SEC has been the strongest conference but that was NOT the case last year. Start scheduling some better outer conference games and then maybe we'll start taking you seriously. So once again what do you have to say about Auburn in conference 7-1 losing to the Big Tens third best team...and yes I know its an individual game but you would think the team with the best in conference record for the SEC would have handled the third best team in the Big Ten pretty easily and your nuts if you think Bama is that good along with Florida...gimme me a break...Last year LSU and Georgia were the only two creditable teams in the SEC all the others are just plain suspect and some of the teams in the SEC are quite over-rated once again try playing a big non-conference game once in a while maybe that will help add to the creditability of the conference...the SEC was NOT the best conference last season!

I agree Conferences are just like teams They go thru down years and best varies here and there. But year in and out on average SEC best in Football more than not!! ACC is baskets etc and so on
This year they are again! How can you argue with 3 teams in top ten and 5 in top 16 Thats not even an arguable point!! Not saying there arent better teams elsewere but over all conference wise there isnt!!

dlvlsu,
your right the SEC is traditionally the strongest conference..but my whole arguement is last season and I just don't think that was the case last season...I mean you had Meyer as a new coach and Leak learning a new system...Tenn was down last year which won't be the case next season...I think they had some internal team problems...Bama whom couldn't score...and Auburn who was a good team but sort of streaky...I just think the conference was down last year unlike in years past...Georgia and LSU were the clear cut better teams last year but Auburn was playing some of its best football late in the season until they laid an egg against Wiscy

You are wrong about ACC best college bball conference. Normally they are the best thanks to duke and UNC, but you are 100% wrong if you think ACC is better than big east this year. Big east has the best team in the nation and top to BOTTOM the best conference hands down. AND they have 16 teams in the conference, and they can almost all play. Even off years for Cuse and Lousiville and they are the best conference
