At least for California, that website mimics what our state-run "Megan's Law" website shows.
Can find out what crimes they commited and what danger level it puts them in etc.
Is this just stuff done to children?
I'd hate for this kinda stuff to expand beyond that. I mean I wouldn't want guys to be listed on such a website for getting caught with a hooker, or something. Starts feeling like an invasion of privacy at that point.
