Hudson Valley area.....NY
1st of all thank you all for the nice comments. It was a great wedding. My daughter looked beautiful,my son-in law[wow, thats the 1st time i wrote that] was awesome. The weather although hot cooled off a little. The food was great.Actually outstanding. The Salt Lick is everything that they said it was.No matter what happened at the wedding everyone knew the food was four stars.Platter after platter was bought to each table. Even when the 1st plate still has food on it.Beef brisket,chicken,ribs,sauage...cole slow, potatoe salad, pinto beans, peach cobbler, etc,
The ceremony was outside between two big live oak trees overlooking the texas hill country.they did it at sunset and it was beautiful.
I didn't cry walking her down.I did when I saw my other daughter[l'box' crying during the vows. And of course whe I danced with her to Peter,Paul and Marys " 500 Miles".
I didn't get to do the dance with my wife one on one.But my kids did see my wife and I "tear up the dance floor".We started bad liked we practiced...my youngest one who told everyone we were bad...started " I told you so". But then my wife and I went to town...I did have about 3 shiner beers already so I was buzzing a little.
I spoke at the end for 10 minuts thanking everyone esp my family and friends from NY that made the trip. Also had some of my former North Texas buddies there.I told the story about how sarah when she 1st arrived at UT told me she wasn't going to get into all the Texas hoopla.Yet at freshman orientation Ricky Williams was the speaker, they turned the texas tower orange floor by floor and the Texas band was there playing "the eyes of Texas". In an hour sarah was brainwashed and doing the "hook'em horns". In two hours she hated people from Oklahoma yet she never met someone from that state.
When I said that the place went crazy laughing.Yet it was really true.
I ended my speech with welcoming her husband to my family...and i told the story about 31 years ago I took a Texas girl away to NY and married her..and tonite I returned one to Texas.

Again thanks for all the nice comments here.I do appreciate them. You Texans were right. The Salt Lick is everything that you guys said it was.The rehershal dinner was at another great place. El Mercado on 1st or 2nd street. What a great tex-mex place.Went to eat at Threadgills.Chicken fried steak was great. But my favorite place was the Hills Cafe.We also ate breakfast at a great place. I forgot the name. Kirbys???or something.Great pancakes.
And of course ate at the Sonic at least 3 times.Lost 10 pounds before the wedding.Gained them all back...thanks again

Box, sounds like you took a little piece of Texas with you back to NY. Glad you decided to share your story with us. Next time you have to check out the sanctuaries of UT sports (The Disch, DKR, and God forbid the Erwin Center).

I went to a wedding reception @ the Salt Lick a few years back. Great place- you definitely know you are at a Texas wedding.
