The US basically needs an Italian victory to have a chance to advance.
Will the Italians lay back because even am Italian loss will get them through to the knockout round.
They suffered "injurys" vs the US and may want to rest and are missing a guy due to a red card.
Will they say screw America lets take a loss in essentially a meaningless game???
I hope not

they will try. If they win the group, their next game will be against Sweden instead of the much tougher England team. I think that's right, but I could easily be wrong. Point is, if they win the group, they play a number 2 instead of a number 1 from another group.

2nd in Group E, will play 1st place group F (most likely Brazil).

They should try, but guys a warning if you are wagering on this game,

Now this will be hard to tell since all four teams (italy, czechs, usa and ghana) all play at the same time 10am. But if USA had played an earlier match and defeated ghana, I would wager on a draw between ITALY-CZE since a tie would avance both teams (italy and cze). Soccer can be a dirty sport in many ways if you kow what I mean.

But Italy can still be eliminated. If they lose, and ghana wins, czechs and ghana advance.
I am sure both teams (italy and czechs) will keep a close eye on the USA-Ghana scoreboard duiring the game.

it is in their best interest, but, if they play for the tie, and ghana defeats usa, italy would come in 2nd and most likely play brazil, the 1st place team in group F, not so sure they want that

Italy is under a ton of national pressure & will want a good result. They DO NOT want to face Brazil in the Quaters....that alone will make them play hard.

Brazil needs to defeat Auzzie today, to help the US cause as that will assure them 1st place in thier Group.

The problem is I do not believe the US will beat Ghana.
