Late to the party here as I'm posting from a hotel in Vega, Texas... but as a fella that has downed a pizza or two in his day, I will say that NY is the thin crust and Chicago rocks the thickness.

Saul- in the highly-unlikely scenario that you'd find yourself in Madison someday, there is a place called Ian's Pizza a block off State Street on campus that sells some of that crazy shit you're talking about. It didn't open until just after I graduated, but I've heard rave reviews on the place. Massive lines at bar time. I've heard the macaroni and cheese pizza is a big favorite.

Thanks Finster - I'm sure I will someday be there. ....Hate lines though, could be a deal breaker.

Stevie - There are some good pizza places in Vegas, but most are in kinda obscure places. My favorite is Round Table anyway, and they're everywhere.

What style do Israeli soldiers generally prefer? I'm thinking they like spongy kind - like Pizza Hut. Not my favorite.

murph..

you got the pizza styles mixed up..the thin sliced is chicago style & the thick sliced is ny....

and btw just an fyi to you..you mentioned some foreign type of pizza..chicken or something like that on a pizza...well let me tell you my friend if you walk into a brooklyn pizza store & ordered something like a chicken style pizza or a pineapple style pizza..they would know you were from calif.... & deport your ass, in a trunk out of a car, out of bklyn before you knew what hit you ..brooklyn people don't want outsiders ruining their pizza by putting anything other than pepperoni, sausage, anchovies, or mushrooms on their pizza. i don't want to receive a phone call late at night from you begging me to bail you out of a jam just because you wanted some fairy type of pizza...friendship will only go so far !!

pineapple on pizza is great - you're missing out on a good thing in life - don't be scared just because it's fruity...

okay i'll admit i have been out of n.y. for 13 years.

i grew up in a predominately italian neighborhood in bklyn & delivered pizza in my youth. the n.y. i was talking about were during the 60's & 70's when i hung out in a pizza store & an italian deli store. those are the people i'm talking about who would never put chicken or fruit on their pizza. and i'm pretty sure that ny born people who still live there would not put those toppings on their slice. but i guess ny is not the same ny that i'm talking about, where people knew their neighbors. i've spoken to friends back there & they have told me that there is a great influx of people in ny now who were born someplace else....as is the case in most places in the states.

And right across the street from Metro Pizza is the Crown and Anchor pub. That's a good combo. Best thing to do is have your pizza, then spend so long drinking that you have to order bangers and mash from the pub at 5 am.

All ingredients are welcome on my pizza. I will not cower to what a goomba claims should and shouldn't be a topping.
