"the bunker"
on the oregon/ucla game....

starting qb goes down for ucla....i know that the second string guy and the starter were both competing in pre-season.....both relatively young....

still, ucla`s offense hasn`t exactly been a ball of fire...the arizona game at ucla last week was much closer than the final score....a late 89 yard int return sewed things up....

oregon took a whipping last week at cal...many thought they could win at cal.....

my point is,why has this line moved from 10.5 to 10?.....

i like the fact that the ducks got drubbed on the road......and i`m pretty sure i`d lay 10 in this spot even if olson wasn`t hurt....

oregon is tough at home...their offense is very potent.....i know their rush defense isn`t great....

but,the situation..after getting embarrassed at cal...

i`m not sure that ucla can keep pace with this offense....amnd i like belotti over dorrell every day and twice on sunday.....

am i missing something?...

thanks in advance

quick points from top of head
1. ucla has played well vs. oregon in autzen
2. bruins have the 2nd ranked defense in the nation.
what part of oregon impresses you?
qb. dixon threw 3 INT'S, the defense almost gave up 50 to bears or how their special teams have given up TD's in last 2 on returns...
sagarin has this game a 6 point spread (3 for home field advantage). i see it great D vs. very good O...
ducks are a public favorite, a bit over-rated...
oregon beat oklahoma with help of an official/ref fvck up, beat fresno st. with a special teams trick play and got beat badly by a cal team without their best player!!!

"the bunker"
appreciated...that`s what i`m looking for...

but,i would counter that ucla`s defensive stats include 4 home games out of 5.....vs less than stellar competition.....washington being a decent offense....utah?...ehh...nothing special...

i don`t think any of the offenses they`ve seen thus far are on par with oregon`s....

oregon`s played the tougher schedule.....by far...have won 2 of 3 on the road....

ucla travels to notre dame next week...a biggie.....while oregon goes to wash st.....

they need a home win here...

and i love the situation....the drubbing at cal....

but,i do appreciate the help.....

thanks for the info...

heard recent radio interview with UCLA coach and from the sounds of it the guys on the team REALLY like this back-up QB and thinks he has some 'magic'.

i hear duck season opens october 14th 12:30pm pacific time zone...

last time ucla went up to oregon, they were +6.5 dogs and they won straight up... 34-26

i still feel oregon will win this game but no way they cover all those points... oregon 24 ucla 17

keep in mind 2nd ranked defense has played some pretty anemic offenses...ariz,stanford,and rice all at ucla

what impresses about oregon? ummmm 470yds per game offense and 37 pts per....not much else though...whether they cover 10 i dont know..what i do know is that if ucla doesnt bring about 28pts+ to autzen....they will have issues covering the 10...i think this goes over 53 myself....i think oregon puts up 35-38 themselves...we'll see

if you think this goes over the total then you don't know much about the bruins... completely different mindset from last 3 under dorrell. they will play ball control offense and control clock.
also your defensive coordinator aliotti was ucla D coordinator, he's notoriously known for his bend don't break crap... which work well vs. cowan in his 1st start.

no matter the competition, this defense is for real with all those NFL assistants who came over this year...
i remember going to spring practice at ucla and talking to athletic dept. people who said cowan was further along than ben olson but that olson had all the upside. basically this team is being groomed for a BCS finish but next year. cowan is a big kid who can run, knows the offense and will do just fine.

johnny-if u think ucla can come into autzen and hold the ducks to 24 points and that the ducks can hold anyone(short of az and stanford)in the pac-10 to 17 points then im afraid u know nothing about the ducks....fyi not to burst ur mj bubble but ur not the only one here at mjs that knows a thing or 2 about pac-10 football...we'll see when we strap it up sat....i'll be there thinking of u....unless of course u make the trip

So. Cal
personally i think ucla is about a 6-6 team ready to get exposed by the higher ups in the conf and nd

yes their defense is better than last year, but is it the schedule thus far????

hard to back someone making their first start, on the road, in eugene after ore got wacked last week......the game can be close for a long time and oregon can still cover by pushing that 4 point lead to 11 late......however i think they play from dd ahead most of the game and roll over ucla by scoring in the 30's while ucla stays under 20 (remember ucla didnt really do squat on offense vs stanford or arizona and covered both games)......

37-14 ducks

Read my lips... oregon by 2 touchdowns... UCLA has had a cake walk schedule and that is the only reason why they have that great of defense numbers wise.

Oregon on the other hand needs to win this game big to get some respect back from the Cal beating they recieved!

Take Oregon -10.5 easy!

* And yes, I am new to the board and a Pac-10 guy!
