not that DW needs anyone being his cut man, but his post did read, "when installed as dogs" maybe that will only be 2xs in a season but I took it as "when" they are ...

one thing about DW i appreciate is he doesnt get dragged into taking cheap shots even tho he has a colorful, flamboyant nature... Ive been on this board a while and dont kiss anyone's ass but try to get along with almost everyone ... Don's OK with me, it always amuses when certain people get protective or myopic and have to come in with cudgels and swing their appliances around in others threads (not saying this is case here but you guys know what i mean) ... I dont get this from DW at all--seems to me he honestly has unique theories and wants to help others win without pounding his chest or being curt or flippant ...

Greg thanks for making my bond. The crux of my handicapping in college hoops is to play on teams that are in place to possibly win there respective conferences, or be very soild. Well coached teams have the ability to hit the road in the underdog role and play at a different level. But if a team is not consistent ATS as a dog, I dont care if there projected to win the National Championship, I wont play them. Ohio St. comes to mind. I checked on Pepperdine and C Michigan and they took a beating last year against the number as a dog. For me I have to have ATS history and see some consistency throughout 5 to 6 seasons. Wil those 2 programs be vastly improved this year? Who knows, maybe, but because they havent produced against the number with any consistency I will elect to lay off. So, if I dont look clever and indentify teams on the rise no one else saw coming...........oh well. I bet I will +25 games over 500 or better at the end of the season........and Im here at MadJacks to spread the love! I get an erection everytime I think of bookmakers losing money.

No one was bashing you, Don.

Perosnally, I was just saying that A&M wasn't going to be a surprise... I think a lot of people are hopping on their bandwagon (like do the Cardinals everyway in the NFL) with the justification that they are going to shock people... which just wont be the case. Not saying that is your theory or anything.

Anyhow... GL man... hope ya do well.

Staying in the Big 12, watch out for Baylor.

They will be one of the most improved teams in the country this year, mark it down.

CT may be a team you can actually bet this year!
No sophomore. junior or senior prima-donas
No juniors or seniors at all except walk-ons....
Picked 5th in the BE by the coaches...BUT....
Calhoun (not one to be too enthusiastic) has been heard saying that this is the fastest in 21 years........the quickest in 21 years
and as talented as last years crew. Last year he was heard to say that AJ Price was the most talented player on the team??? Well, theres a lot more at the 1 and 2 than that and they can all shoot and score...Dyson, Wiggins, then there is Austrie and Garrison who bring a little experience to the table with the super-frosh.
Thabeet at 7'3" adds a game changing Defensive dimension and progress is 'scary" ....Pitino
No shortage of forwards who can play either.
Adrien who is up to around 245 with those Looooong arms and rebounding instincts can be good for 15 and 10..He is an animal and a leader.
Then Marcus Johnson who came in as a top 50 from Cal. Solid solid D as newbies are finding out can also handle the ball well...Curtis Kelly 6'9 Ny Post and Daily news POY from Rice ...6' 9"Stanley Robinson (Mr Alabama bb finalist) who scores on all but MJ..Ben Eaves at 6'7' F/G highly ranked English import.....6'11 Mandelove 6'9 Gavin Edwards............CT will lose a few because of youth but will be an interesting play all year. I like their chances to be very good again! But then again this is my team!

I will be looking to fade Florida as a favorite early and often. I think Noah is one of the most overrated players I have heard about in 2-3 years.

Don,

Glad to see Bama on your list. They have played well as the dog the last couple of years. We used to have serious, serious issues when it came to road games. Alabama has cured those problems the last 3 years as Gotfried has matured as a coach.

I think Alabama will have a pretty good team this year. I love our starters. The bench and depth is what the concern will be. Can we develop consistent players which can spell our starters for 10 minutes per game?

Finally, I think we will be a good dog team because of the makeup of our team. You have one of the top PGs in the entire NCAA playing who will keep you in games and not make dumb mistakes. You also have 2 inside post players that are not dependent on making the outside shot i.e. those %s go way up.

Look forward to your basketball picks my friend and good luck.
