Did Louisville get a screwing??

I'll preface this by admitting I had Louisville last night, and after getting screwed by Akron I could be insane.

Let me also say, the way Rutgers dominated the second half, they certainly deserved to win. Also the way Louisville choked second half they deserved to lose, no doubt.

But ito missed the field goal at regulation conclusion. Was this not a huge play? Didn't it deserve to be shown on replay? It was the game deciding play, and the analysts said nothing, nor showed it on replay.

I saw #21 on Louisville playing the left end positioned on the field goal attempt step off side, then quickly jump back on side, he didn't touch anyone, hence there should be no penalty, if a defense player jumps, then gets back before the snap, and never touches a player, my understanding is no penalty. I'm relatively sure this was the case. However I can't be positive, because ESPN didn't even see it important enough to show a replay, or discuss it at all? I don't understand that at all, it was the games most important play at that point.

Again I had Louisville, and again the way they play second half, they deserved to lose, but I'm not sure they deserved to lose on a bs official call like that, and then it not even be reviewed, or discussed seems crazy.

Anyone agreed, or I'm way off on this?

I guess it's debatable whether he got back or not, but they did show the replay.
I was also on Louisville and I personally thought he was offsides after seeing the replay.

Jeff, I didn't see a replay at all, it definitely wasn't discussed or talked about. I recall seeing #21 jump and thinking what a idiot, on that close of a kick, from that position he has no chance of blocking it at all. But I thought he clearly jumped back Before the snap. And I definitely don't think he made contacts with anyone. As I say, clearly Rutgers was playing much better, and probably would have won in overtime. Just thought it really wasn't discussed much, and was a bs way to lose. The kicker clearly choked, and it had nothing to do with Louisville player jumping.

Kg, I wish I had watched ESPN Post game. After Akron & Louisville I had enough for the night.

But I would have been interested to see replay to see if it was warranted of a call. Did the player make any contact? Or you think he just didn't get back on time?

I don't think it was ruled that he made contact, just ruled he did not get back.

I will agree that the announcers didn't say much about it, all their talk was about the great moment it was for Rutgers....and that was before the winning kick.
Their broadcast kind of just skipped over what a big pressure kick it was and went straight to what a great victory it was going to be for Rutgers.

He doesnt have to make contact. If you are in the neutral zone you are offside.

True.....if the ball is snapped......but if the ball is still under center, you have the opportunity to get back behind the line........as long as you dont touch anyone, you are OK as long as you get back......I dont think the guy got back in this case though

big tease, you could very well be correct, maybe he didn't get back on time. I just don't like to see a that good of a game end like that on a officials call, and if it is called, I would think it would be discussed somewhat & shown on replay. Instead the commentators were just raving about Rutgers.

This kind of thing happened in Dallas Washington pro game this weekend, I had neither side here, but thought game being decided by officials calling 15 yard face mask penalty was total bs. After that entire close game, for the officials to award it to Washington on that typed of call to me seems crazy. If anything it was a 5 yard infraction, but the officials call at the conclusion of the game, just awarded to Washington.

Sun Tzu is correct... They just changed the rule this year i believe. Plus, the new rule states that if a defender jumps into the neutral zone and causes the offense to move it's no longer consider a false start. It's amazing how many announcers don't this rule and they're the so called experts...

I dont know about that Dirty Diapers....there were MANY times during this game that Louisville jumped across the line, Rutgers line didnt budge, Louisville got re-set, and then Teel snapped the ball......nothing called. In fact, I recall mentioning to a buddy of mine how the Rutgers center should have snapped the ball as soon as Louisville jumped so they could get a free 5 yards

yep, can think of atleast 2-3 times a team jumped and got back onside and reset in this game and the play resumed.

Not only was he way offsides, they showed the replay at least 3 times, AND the guy jumping on that side definately spooked the kicker into pulling the kick the other way.

Typical Pats fan...always crying for some lame ass excuse :mj07: (jk!)
