I think one of the reasons that they keep NASA around is to prevent private, commercial organizations from developing more objects to go into space.

You see a lot of hype about 'space travel' and what not... and its a pretty brutal process for someone to get the ability to go up in space, for whatever reason.

If we disband nasa, you could legitimately have people shooting themselves up into space if they could gather enough funding.

nasa is like the governing body of it all. they do a lot of work with oceanography as well believe it or not.
its not just simply outer space they deal with.


I don't think they should be getting the funding that they do - its a terribly fiscally irresponsible org they have there, but it is more than just tossing bricks into space.
