Me and buck got a bet on whether Chipper Jones will win the National League batting title in
2008.

Does anyone know who will be his main
competition ?

Question: Chipper, I am in a bad hitting slump right now. I was wondering what you do when you have hitting slumps? I need all the help I can get!

Answer: I personally talk to my dad and hitting instructor a lot. I also try to take more BP, watch tape of my swing from when things were going well, and most importantly, keep swinging with a positive mental attitude. I have been around the game long enough to realize that you are going to have these kind of slumps. You have got to stay positive and keep approaching the plate as if the at-bat is the one that is going to turn things around. Once a slump breaks your mental approach, it has won. Stay focused.

I want to give a shout out to BUCSnotYUCKS and just let him know he will be wearing a authentic jersey come the end of September.

Lost amongst all this is the fact that Batting Average is an overrated stat.

Its the only thing Larry has a chance at. I think its a pretty good accomplishment out of all the players who could win it.

While I agree that it's overrated in a sense of how it's measured. However, I disagree that it's overrated in general.

Also, the point of the bet isn't whether or not the stat is overrated or what not. The point is I'm gonna get me my damn jersey! :)

Currently leading this tight pack is Hanley Ramirez, :00hour a former Red Sox super-prospect who has blossomed after being traded to the Marlins in the Josh Beckett deal last year. Ramirez is batting .341, and his 147 base hits lead the National League.
Ramirez is young, twenty-three years old, and perhaps the pressure of trying to win a National League batting title will cause him to wither in the Miami heat down the stretch.

While Ramirez doesn't have much of a track record to go by, The Nationals' Dimitri Young :00hour does. He is a career .292 batter who is now hitting .340, but playing with Washington in relative obscurity may actually help him as he chases the National League batting title.

Now the Braves can only hope that Jones is able to stay healthy. Since returning from his latest stint on the disabled list on June 13 last year, he's hit a Major League-best .362.

Mariners outfielder Ichiro Suzuki's .357 batting average stands as the second-best mark during that span.:00hour

Well the good part about the batting title is you don't have to stay healthy (unlike the HR or RBI titles, where you have to play at least 155-160 games to be competitive). All he needs is 502 PAs - which is easy. He had more ABs than that last year while missing almost 30 games.

I found this and was not pleased about it. :scared
