By Rush Limbaugh:

I think the vast differences in compensation between victims of the September 11 casualty and those who die serving our country in Uniform are profound .
No one is really talking about it either, because you just don't criticize anything having to do with September 11. Well, I can't let the numbers pass by because it says something really disturbing about the entitlement mentality of this country. If you lost a family member in the September 11 attack, you're going to get an average of $1,185,000. The range is a minimum guarantee of $250,000 all the way up to $4.7 million.

If you are a surviving family member of an American soldier killed in action, the first check you get is a $6,000 direct death benefit, half of which is taxable.

Next, you get $1,750 for burial costs. If you are the surviving spouse, you get $833 a month until you remarry. And there's a payment of $211 per month for each child under 18. When the child hits 18, those payments come to a screeching halt.

Keep in mind that some of the people who are getting an average of $1.185 million up to $4.7 million are complaining that it's not enough. Their deaths were tragic, but for most, they were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Soldiers put themselves in harms way FOR ALL OF US, and they and their families know the dangers.

We also learned over the weekend that some of the victims from the Oklahoma City bombing have started an organization asking for the same deal that the September 11 families are getting. In addition to that, some of the families of those bombed in the embassies are now asking for compensation as well.

You see where this is going, don't you? Folks, this is part and parcel of over 50 years of entitlement politics in this country. It's just really sad. Every time a pay raise comes up for the military, they usually receive next to nothing of a raise. Now the green
machine is in combat in the Middle East while their families have to survive on food stamps and live in low-rent housing.. Make sense?

However, our own US Congress voted themselves a raise. Many of you don't know that they only have to be in Congress one time to receive a pension that is more than $ 15,000 per month. And most are now equal to being millionaires plus. They do not receive Social Security on retirement because they didn't have to pay into the system. If some of the military people stay in for 20 years and get out as an E-7, they may receive a pension of $1,000 per month, and the very people who placed them in harm's way receives a pension of $15,000 per month.

I would like to see our elected officials pick up a weapon and join ranks before they start cutting out benefits and lowering pay for our sons and daughters who are now fighting.

' When do we finally do something about this?

Not that this has anything to do with it but what happens when a soldier is killed but had life insurance? I know they probably can't get life insurance once they're in but what if they had it before they enlisted.

nothing that isnt in a normal policy. Its administered by the Serviceman's Group Life Insurance.

Is there anything in a normal policy about being killed while voluntarily serving in a war?

Under both CSRS and FERS, Members of Congress are eligible for a pension
at age 62 if they have completed at least five years of service. Members are eligible
for a pension at age 50 if they have completed 20 years of service, or at any age after
completing 25 years of service. The amount of the pension depends on years of
service and the average of the highest three years of salary. By law, the starting
amount of a Member?s retirement annuity may not exceed 80% of his or her final
salary.
As of October 1, 2006, 413 retired Members of Congress were receiving federal
pensions based fully or in part on their congressional service. Of this number, 290
had retired under CSRS and were receiving an average annual pension of $60,972.
A total of 123 Members had retired with service under both CSRS and FERS or with
service under FERS only. Their average annual pension was $35,952 in 2006.
..............................................................

290 x 60,972 = $17,681,880.00

123 x 35,952 = $4,422,096.00

Total each year since 2006 = $ 22,103,976.00

And these guys were all millionaires before they left for retirement.

That would just about cover health insurance for
alot of americans.

Nice retirement package there .

Rat bastids.

Any raises or retirement packages for Congress should be voted by the people of America.

These fawkers make up their own plans.

wtf we need to cut the pork fat.

Go Obama !

:D probly so.. but that page is written in a way that is fun... like:

Will my family get the insurance money if i am wearing body armor not issued by the DoD when I die?

Will they get the money if i die in a car crash and not wearing a seat belt?

With 4,084 confirmed dead U.S. soldiers thanks to Bushco and his 900+ lies, I am guessing this company is getting very creative in its ways to deny claims.

9/11 was a horrible tragedy, and I take nothing away from that.

I remember having so little money at the time, had just started a temp job, had debt, etc...

I put $10 in one of those boots that went around for support, etc.

Biggest slap on the face I ever got was to hear those greedy New York bastards going on Oprah and other shows saying how they didn't get enough money, when like you say, they were averaging over a million bucks per death, not including life insurance...

You can't put a price on human life, but a lot of these people sure did and it got really hard to feel sorry for most of them.

Why is it that anyone's family member that was killed on September 11th is entitled to anything. People unfortunately die eveyday and in bad ways. Our governement and citizens should not pay anyone for their relatives unfortunate death. I have life insurance for a reason, and if I die, that is what my family gets. I understand that that was one of the worst days ever, but like we are seeing with the Oklahoma bombing victims families now asking for money, it will never stop after you open that can of worms.
