>>>1. NFL - One word - Spygate. How long has this been going on? How many championships would NE have won without it? We'll never know - but one does wonder...<<<
How many championships would Pittsburgh have won in the 70's if they weren't roided up? Would San Francisco or Denver have won anything if they weren't cheating the salary cap? You can point your finger in a hundred directions at many different teams trying to gain an advantage. Stop acting like the Pats are the only team out there doing wrong, you and 3 Seconds need to stop your circle-jerking.
>>>2. NBA - probably the most legit of the titles that Boston has won - BUT without McHale giving away Garnett to his old team, it never would have happened. Wonder why Minnesota is so bad today? Wonder why Garnett ended up in Boston? McHale couldn't have been happier with the result, I'm sure<<<.
This is just so weak I'm not even going to bother....
>>>3. MLB - the most tainted of all. Yes, the rules that are out there are the ones to play by - so you can't blame Boston for taking advantage of them. But when a team consistently outspends all but 1 team in the ML in player salaries - well, in my mind they are underacheiving if they don't win EVERY OTHER YEAR. Spend the most money, have a little intelligence, and you should win.
Hey Boston - try winning with a $60 Million dollar payroll instead.... You'd have Manny and the rest would be single A players......<<<
LoL yeah, the Red Sox have been perrenial World Series winners. They've always spent money but hadn't won a WS championship since 1918 before they won it in 2004. BY your ridiculous logic the Yankees should win it every year. How are they doing? Florida, Minnesota, Arizona...just a few that come to mind with small payrolls who have won it all in recent years.
>>>OK, enough of the rant - but in my mind, the New England area has not really accomplished all that much, given the facts behind each of the championships...<<<
Lots more than Green Bay/Milwaukee has ever accomplished. It's going to be fun watching the Peckers fall flat on their arses starting this coming season without Captain Interception out there. I love listening to Green Bay fans whining and crying because Brett decided to retire. Talk about over-rated, if he was so damn great why did Green Bay only win one super bowl with him? I'll always remember him as a choker in the playoffs and as a wuss who took a dive so someone could get the sack record. Never respected the guy after that and I never will.....
NFL - so it's ok to break the rules to gain an advantage? ok, no problem - I guess anything goes here. You are right.
NBA - the only thing worse than the shame trade of Garnett to Boston was the Gasol trade to LA. Let's face it - the finals were completely orchestrated by the NBA. The NBA in the 2000's are nothing more than wrestling - entirely orchestrated by the league. If you are too dumb to see that Gasol was given to LA, and Garnett to Boston, and that Chicago legitimately won the lottery with a 1.7% chance... and that Patrick Ewing "luckily" ended up with the Knicks.. and that it was just chance that LeBron ended up with Cleveland - well, then a got some waterfront to sell you in AZ. You are not the sharpest tool in the woodshed.
MLB - you can say what you want, but money spent on salary has a direct corelation with record - even with the exceptional cases. You don't have to worry about $15M mistakes - but for a small franchise, to make a $15M mistake on a player is huge... playing with a team salary that is 3 times most teams is such a HUGE advantage....how rewarding can it be when you win? Big deal. Now when a small market team wins? Now THAT is rewarding - to spend 1/3 the big market teams, but being that much better in player development and scouting......I'd be embarrassed if I was 3 times as likely to win and couldn't.... I'll bet the Tampa Rays really makes you wonder about the competence of the Boston coaching staff since their payroll is 1/6 of what the Red Sox's is - Now THAT is a real baseball team....Yea, buying whatever players you want is really hard... let's see - I need a starting pitcher - OK, I'll spend $120M on Dice K - no problem - hell, that is most teams salary for all their 25 players for 3 YEARS!
Yea, congrats - great accomplishment Red Sox. You should win and you did. Big deal.
And you can rip on Favre all you want, but he set NFL passing records playing in a terrible environment to throw the ball with the weather and all. I'd love to see what he could have done playing in the dome like Manning does. What a huge advantage! And, ranking QB by Super Bowl wins is the stupidest way to view NFL quarterbacks and how good they were. The supporting cast is so important - just like any sport.
I don't think Cal Ripken won a lot of WS - yet he is viewed as one of the best ever. Should we say he is a SH*T player cuz he never won one?
Favre was one of the best ever - and I will guarantee you - we won't be saying the same about Tom Brady when he retires - cuz he won't have the numbers - which is sad, cuz he plays in a similiar environment to Favre. If Brady was as good as Favre, his career numbers should be similiar, IF he is as good as Favre.
My money says he won't touch Favre's records. If you are interested, we can bet on who has more career TD passes - Favre or Brady. We can both put $10K (or more if you like) in an interest bearing account and settle up when Brady retiires. We can use a lawyer to draw up the papers to make it legal like.
But of course I'm kidding - you'll never do it, cuz Brady will never touch what Favre has done. Anybody knows that.
