Texans agreed to terms with QB Rex Grossman on a one-year, $620,000 contract.

We're guessing that Rex isn't being brought in to compete with Dan Orlovsky, who the Texans will pay about $3M this year. Grossman, 29, holds an awful career completion rate of 54.2 and a weak 6.4 career YPA. Most likely, he will push Alex Brink to be another insurance policy behind starter Matt Schaub, who's missed 10 games with injuries over the last two seasons.

When I had Over $ riding last year, I prefered to see Rosenberg (bloom) (fels) in there instead of Schaub - I knew there was going to be scoring, 1 team or the other.

Signing will have no affect on Texans season.
Grossman is 3rd string at best if he can beat out Alex Brink.
They spent 3 million to bring in Dan Orlovsky as the backup. Grossman is a fall back and maybe he does something guy.

of course as backup...

Backup to the backup you mean.

Maybe he can beat out Orlavsky but they have said Orlavsky was brought in to replace Sage as #2 when they signed him and when they signed Grossman although Grossman gonna have a chance to outplay Orlavsky in preseason and get the nod.

Been hearing that daily on the radio, which is why they brought in a guy with experience.
Word is they still consider him #2 but could be competition and Grossman good showing would bump him to #2.
