thanks again folks..

for some reason it has been a very emotional day..more so than in the recent past..

realizing and recalling how I pissed away nearly 20 years of my life is tuff sometimes..

but the rewards far far out-weigh those horrible memories.

thanks again..ya'll are very kind.

Congratulations, Old School.

Question: I have a friend who left for rehab last Tuesday. He is not a friend who I speak to on a regular basis (2-4 times per year) because we now live in different cities.

Do you have any recommendations on what my next step should be when he gets out?

Thanks in advance.

And once again, congratulations!!

OS - great post. A happy day to you today and every day going forward. You're a great guy and it's good to know a little more about what has made you that way!

OS,

I can honestly tell you, the support you gave me almost 3 years ago played a major part in giving me the strength to quit drinking. I know exactly how you feel right now. It's wonderful isn't it? At one point in our lives, we couldn't function without alcohol. What the hell were we thinking? LIFE IS GOOD my friend! Just as you've always told me, " it only gets better". VERY PROUD OF YOU MAN!

Congrats and thanks for the post. I'm gonna read it again.

Congrats Old School,

Happy Birthday! While I still drink a few beers every so often, I don't drink nearly 1/10 as much as I did when I was in college. The way you treat others around here should be an example to many in this forum :00hour :00hour :00hour

Thanks for sharing--

Ran into side of my garage bout that same time--that was end of hard liquor (rum mostly) and hitting bars at night. Still will drink a few brews when playing golf anf roll tide bloody mary occasionally but only alchohol that has been in house since is Bicardi botlle of rum with dust on it.

If I had used good sense like yourself and imposed moderation I would have saved myself appox. $200,000.00[conservative estimate most substance abusers don't know where their money goes] and nearly a quarter of a century of wasteful living.

It is always heart warming to hear and read how folks heed the early warning signs and do what is best for them, their famiiies and those who care about them.

As an abusers I destroyed everything in my path and didn't have a friggin' clue until I got help.

Take care and keep hitting straight...:brows:

Wow, congrats bro. I hope you played the Raiders that night :)

actually Hooks I had squandered away my life to the point where I had about maybe 6 or 7 bucks a week to call my own.The fines and attorney fees along w/the high auto insurance I had to pay just to be able get to work took most every dollar I was still able to earn when my hands would stop shaking enough and the dry heaves stopped.

...you can probably guess where that 6 or 7 bucks went prior to that fatefull Monday Night.

Yea..:flush:

One of the many things sobriety did bring along with it was money management..

I can damn sure play the Raiders now if I want too..May not be a winning play but it is always recreational funds used in moderation that never ever take away from the upkeep of our home or the very conservative wants of my present wife.

Thanks for your reply Hooks..

Go Redskins..kurby
