Yeah, they got me too. I usually bet first 5 on teams that have bad pens, but I honestly didn't think it would matter sense Snell was pitching for the M's tonight. In order for this game to be a winner they needed to get to Snell, which shouldn't have been a hard since he's a gascan. I knew this bet was a loser when he left the game only giving up 2 runs.

Bases loaded no outs in the first inning and Royals get zilch..

Also the Royals should go ahead and bring Soria in for a 2 inning save. Doesn't get many opportunities so why not?? Twins could use a srtrike out closer. Nice to see him here in Minny.. I know Rauch has been solid but I think he gets torched in BIG games.

I realize this is totally after the fact, but I completely agree that not scoring a run in the 1st really changed the complexion of the game. Some people realize it, some people don't, but Snell's biggest problem is that he's a headcase. He actually has decent stuff, but he's a mental midget. If the Royals could have put up a couple of runs in the 1st inning, like they should have, it probably would have rattled Snell and my guess is he would have imploded and not gotten very deep into the game. But they let him off the hook and that resulted in him gaining a lot of confidence and settling down.

I also agree about bringing Soria in. I realize managers don't like to use closers in the 8th inning, but that's when the game was on the line, not the 9th. To leave Soria in the pen and watch the rest of the BP blow the lead is inexcusable if you ask me. Asking your best pitcher to get four or five outs once in a while is totally acceptable. These "specialized" roles in baseball are killing the sport.
