Some of you may have seen the thread on Monday in the NFL forum where I said that I am in a pcik-em contest with some real squares. There are 29 total entrants (I am one of the 29). Each week, the person running the contest picks 25 games (a mix of pro and college), and we have to submit our picks against the spread. On Monday, I pointed out how the overwhelming majority was on New Orleans...I was on San Fran. That worked out.

Anyways, the TCU-SMU is presenting itself the same way. Of the 29 participants, only 5 people have SMU picked (I am one of the 5). Just thoguht I'd share this tidbit. Sure seems like a lot of the average joes think that TCU is the play

Good luck with your plays

Well....I am the defending champ. The contest runs the length of the football season, but there are prizes for best record every week and best record every month. Last week I went 17-8 and won the week. I'm currently in 5th place overall....but climbing ;)

I'm anything, but average. :mj07:

Good luck! Never underestimate how much TCU hates SMU. But having said that, Patterson considers JJ a friend and may allow a backdoor cover.

This team is even more balanced than last year. It was a 25 pt difference last year in the rain.

Sorry Joe...

Wasnt suggesting that anyone that takes TCU is an average joe. Just meant that my contest is full of average joes and they are almost all on TCU.

I'm in a similar pool ppa but we get a list of games and just pick 12 of them for the week. normally for college when there is an overwhelming # lopsided, like 15-3 last night in favor of Miami, the majority wins - except for auburn/bama games each week b/c the majority of guys went to school at one of those two and are bias.

only problem is that it only reveals the poolwide picks 2-3 minutes before kickoff so getting to the bookie has to be a quick fix if trying to follow the majority.

But just my experiences in this group for the last 2 years if there is a really lopsided picking, it's usually the game is just an easy pick at least 4 out of 5 times. Might just be a group full of sharps

only applies to ncaa though, nfl usually means fade the majority. like pats-jets last week was like 20-4 in favor of pats

Just giving you a hard time. Anytime someone says "Average Joe" or "Joe Blow", I always make some kind of wisecrack.

Good luck. Look for me tonight on TV. I'll be wearing purple.

Yeah, the group I'm in....you have to submit all 25 games before the kickoff of the first game....and then he posts everyone's picks on the internet. That way, you can see what everyone took. Most of these guys really are squares, as I know about 80-85% of them personally.
