Yes, Villanova is in the FINAL FOUR….of the Crown Basketball Championship. They take on Central Florida (19-16) at 4:00 pm in Las Vegas on Fox. Nova is -3.5/156.5.
UCF come in after an 8 point win over Cincinnati while Villanova won a 60-59 nail biter over USC coming back from a 12 point second half deficit. This is a battle between the tortoise (Villanova) and the hare (UCF). The Cats are one of the slowest teams in the country while UCF is one of the fastest. UCF is led by Senior Guard Darius Johnson who has averaged 23 ppg in this tournament. They also have a 7’2” monster in Moustapha Thiam (10.6 ppg). Jordan Ivy-Curry rounds out their triple threat scoring (12.4 ppg). Their leading scorer opted out as he is headed to Auburn.
For Villanova, Eric Dixon scored 24 of his 27 points in the second half vs USC. He literally, single handedly willed Villanova to a win. I think this says something about him and this club. They are committed to winning this Tournament. To do that today, they’ll have to guard Johnson closely and box out Thiam as well as dictate a slow pace. Despite UCF’s run and gun reputation, their last 5 games have gone Under the number.
