marquez vs medina-----juan manuel marquez trying to capture his first title tonight....one of my favorites and somewhat unsung outside of boxing circles for many years...is on a par with m.a. barrera and eric morales(in my opinion).....but,is fighting a crafty,awkward tough old pro in manuel medina.....medina was robbed last year of a decision vs johnny tapia....he throws many punches(although not a heavy puncher)....could prove somewhat tricky for a slasher like marquez who sometimes is a little to economical with his punches.....love marquez to death,but,not laying almost 5-1 in a tough style match-up...i absolutely believe he will prevail,but,i ain`t layin` 5-1....in a fight vs a more "stand in" guy,i`d maybe consider it(i never lay these odds),but,not with these styles.....i had marquez vs in jin chi-250 for a bundle but it was cancelled(i would have retired after that fight) ...whatever,i guarantee you will enjoy the fight just to watch marquez...i hope he doesn`t get out-hustled...that is indeed,very doubtful...
miguel cotto vs cesar bazan--------ex-champ bazan moving up in weight vs younger ,stronger cotto.... i think cotto will win...these odds are VERY high...again,out of my range....some may want to take a shot with good fighter bazan with long odds.....bazan had some wars with stevie johnston at lightweight....he is 6-1"(cotto 5-8" or 5-9") and can punch...but moving up in weight vs a very strong,vicious body punching cotto.......but,at +600 or even +500?....i could see taking a flyer...cotto`s toughest fight to date....can bazan`s skinny body stand up to cotto`s body attack?
david santos vs carlos hernandez------slick boxer santos vs tough hernandez....hernandez has been in with tougher guys.....santos is probably a better technician.....i expect a very close,hard fought fight....hernandez has many ex-champs in his training camp to spur him on(arguello-duran)....would be the first el salvadoran champ...is very motivated.....but,santos is an excellent boxer....hernandez around a -175 favorite.....to close to call..with a gun to my head,a slight,slight lean to motivated hernandez.....but,not with my money....
i know i`ve been an enormous help tonight
.....but i`m not wagering just to throw money around......there are questions or ridiculous odds keeping my wallet in my pocket tonight.....but,i would advise boxing fans to catch this very solid card...should be a doozy....very competitive...i really hope marquez is on his game.....he is a machine when he`s got it all clicking......g.l.....
