I coulda swore I entered my tennis picks, when I joined MJ's quite awhile ago, in a TENNIS FORUM? Guess not?

I started posting again on account of the NCAA tournies and did pretty good, basebawl just ain't my sport (for gamblin that is), but tennis is my favorite.

So, hopefully there's some interest out there...

for TODAY:

Safin -130: Two over the hill players - one was an "All Star" the other never quite got there. Safin won his last and that should encourage him this morning. Still has plenty of mustard behind his shots and even though his mobility is compromised by his age - he never needed or had much court speed when he was on top in the past. If he keeps his cool, Lapentti will have a problem running down the returns he's gonna see today.

Vania King +168 OR +3 games (+105), I gotem both. Looks like a very close match - give King a shot cause of (1) the odds ... and (2) the surface (Clay).

Let me know if you like to play tennis (I play it, watch it, and bet on it) and I'll keep on truckin... er, posting.

G.L. ... . . and don't forget to git them 1040s in today.

Sorry bout those two :(

Sorry bout those two :(

You know, I actually marked Safin down as a winner in my notes after they got about midway into the deciding set. I coulda swore Lapentti was drained.
King was just a bad pick.

Thanks for jumping in Thong and Kick and also for posting the results - whether they win or lose. GREAT to see a couple of people that are interested in tennis.

Thong, I checked out that matchup and it's a great match... . TO WATCH. I cannot come up with a winner for that one though. Just for your info, Verdasco is 4-3 vs. Ferrer and their matches were very close. If Verdasco hadn't improved sooo much in the past several months, I'd be all over Ferrer. But not at this point.

Sorry, I didn't get back to you sooner, I post at the weirdest times. I'm on these today, still hours before the start time:

Ljubicic +115: Lubie woulda moidered da bum in the past, but he's getting pretty long in the tooth and I believe he has some physical issues. Too bad, he has terrific form and an excellent all around game. Think he has a good chance if he can get the job done pretty quickly today. If the match gets too long, I think I'm in trouble.

Malek - 140 (the one that will play Cohen=Alora, womens side): two "weaklings", but Alora is really bad. I've had luck with these kinda matches. Got this with a couple of basebawlers in a parlay; but I won't post the bawlers cause you folks got enough losers from me yesterday.

ALMOST went with Wawrenko (+525) vs. the FED MAN. Federer is getting beatable lately, but only by a select group of players. I think Waw. is one of them. But I just can't pull the trigger on this longshot today. If you can get the +4 1/2 games or "match goes OVER 20 1/2 games", both at +105 at Dimes they look worthwhile - I got those as strong LEANS right now.

Do checkout the tennis picks, I've followed this sport pretty closely for years (ONLY play matches that I believe I can beat though, don't play for the hell of it. So I probably won't be posting every day.).You know about the tough odds in tennis right? Well, my biggest scores have been putting two or three tennis favorites with a couple of COLLEGE footballers in parlays. IMO, tennis picks at better odds than -200 are fine for single plays. Think we can get lucky when the big tourneys come up although the French Open is not my best major.

Good luck, and thanks again for stopping i

I'm like you; i like playing and watching tennis; have been betting on tennis for years; too much time consumming, very tough odds on favourites.

My experience : bet womens rather than mens ( less surprises), and do it during the 4 slams.

Betting every other tournament is really asking for trouble.

UGH

UGH

that match could have easily been his

and todays match WAS HIS :s2:

Well, I HOPE my WORDS (NOT actions) persuaded somebody out there to take Wawrenko. At least I did pick the OVER 20 1/2 jobbie to go with, the "plus 4 games" WOULDA won also. And he beats the FED MAN in 2 straight set to boot - who woulda thunk??

Sure wish I woulda known that I was on fire yesterday, even my call on Olora was right on,"she's REALLY bad". Sheeet, she just plain quit after the mismatch was evident with the score at 0-5 in the first set.

Don't see a score for Ljubicic? Now watch... .. . I get a LUBE JOB in that one.

Keep playing along guys. Crow, we gotta stop being afraid of them HUGE odds.

Good luck, y'awl.

Whew

Whew

Hope you got some GOOD NEWS tomorrow, Thong.

Actually, that is a bit of good news cause an extra day's rest should help good ole Lubie.

I may come up with something for Fri. (today); if so - I'll post a little later.

BTW, I do hope he pulls it out cause my basebawlers did very well today. Only had a short list of them and they're all PAPER PLAYS, but I did take a shot with a two teamer. Picked Clev. from the BB list to go with Lubie for real:
Lubie and Clev (they already covered at +177):) in a two teamer.
I also got Lubie as a single play.

I ain't ready to start posting basebawlers yet - based on my record of past years, I gotta see more good BB results before posting them.

Couple more

Couple more

Sorry about the timing of these. Adding a couple but Ljubicic is still the best play today:

EARLY BIRD TENNIS for Friday

Kirilenko -150: she ls in form and clearly a better clay courter than her oponent who prefers hardcourts. Lenko creamed Sanchez last year in their only clay matchup in years (6-0, 6-2). Summing this one up wth - more experience, right surface, more tennis smarts and the odds fit.

Navarro -260: If she plays anywhere close to the way she did the last time I saw her then this is no contest. PLENTY of talent, but she doesn't always use it all. This one should be a good parlay stuffer.

Good luck everybody.

Keep on truckin

Keep on truckin

Looks like I lost my scorekeeper, so now that all these picks are done, kurby
OK, got the scores - here ya go:

Kirllenko was a WINNAH (6-1, 3-6 - 6-0

Navarro was a WINNAH (6-4, 6-0)

Both just walked over the finish line and still won by the length of the stretch. er.... .. any horse players around here?

BTW, I wrote the the Lubie match was close. Actually, he won in two straight sets, but the second set was very close and if he lost that one - well, the outcome coulda been different. Don't think about taking him vs. any of the Big Guns.

Not looking to win any "most views" contests, so IF I come up with more plays - I'll start a new thread so nobody has to go through all the above stuff. Any other tennis followers (watchers, players?) out there? If so, I'll just ..... .. ..
