there's a reason this line is so far off the power numbers for these two teams - the house wants the zags. gl today fletcher, looking forward to meeting in a few weeks in vegas.

no, just the opposite. when i think that the house doesn't mind taking a position, that usually works out to be the side to be on imo. here, the numbers i use say st joes should be a small favorite, so it looks to me like that's where the house wants the money.

What's interesting is that the Sagarin ratings are the only ones I see that are out of whack with the line, but he has St.Joe's rated 9th in the country. Then again, he has Creighton #1. The other 2 sets of power ratings I look at have GONZ rated to win by 8 and 9 respectively. Might that not instead suggest the books are slightly taking a side with St. Joe's or paying slight homage to Sagarin and those use it primarily? The better question is are there any power ratings that are viewed as the sharpest? Certainly not Sagarin, even though those are most widely used.

rudy - i use the massey ratings as it seems to me that they are the most influencial ratings numbers on the vegas line.

ut-longhorn - as to playing gonzaga, wanted to stay away from posting my plays as i have been pretty cold of late, but my intent is to watch this line and if i see no significant changes, i'll probably make the play.

fletcher - do you mind if i just pull up a chair and take a seat in your thread?
