2* Atlanta +140
(Maddux/Prior)
All of us are huge fans of Mark Prior and he won us a lot of $$ this year but we see a lot of value with the Braves in this game. Greg Maddux has been every bit an equal of Prior since July 1st and it?s amazing how quietly Maddux has done it? No one has noticed him but look at these numbers he?s put up! Since July 1st Maddux has gone 10-3 and in his last 12 starts he?s given up more than 2 runs just twice. In his last 17 starts Maddux has given up more than 2 runs just 3 times!!! He?s 2-0 2.77 against Chicago this year and 11-3 2.38 era in his career, remember he?s a former Cub and always pitches great against his former employer.
The whole Braves staff is in good form as they have a team 2.73 era last 10 games and the pens is 1.98 over that time. The Braves are 7-2 at Wrigley Field over the last 3 years and they average 5.9 runs a game on the road! As a road dog of +125 to +150 the Braves are 6-1 this year as they really take the slight to heart. The Braves are 97-56 on grass, 48-32 against over.500 teams, and 17-9 on Fridays. The quirky stat of the day is that the Braves are 55-26 on Friday?s the last 3 years.
Mark Prior is 0-2 6.35 era in his career against Atlanta and the Cubs are just 11-11 as home favorites of ?150 to ?175 this year. The Cubs only hit .256 against righties and average just 4.3 runs a game at home, and the Cubs aren?t a dominant home team only going 44-37 at home this year. The Cubs are also just 37-33 in night games. We?ve won both games in this series with the Cubs in game 1 and Atlanta in game 2 so we have a good grasp on this series and we see a lot of value with the Braves at +140.
Good luck today.
