Breakdown of USU: Aggies should win this game outright, but the moneyline isn't enough to give up the points. JC Carroll is absolutely the real deal on O. If he was at a bigger program, the hype would be rediculous. BYU poses size problems for the Aggies, but given the fundamentally sound way Stew Morrill teams play they should be able to push Plaisted and Young away from their basket and make them beat them with 8-10' jumpers. Not their strength. BYU has been extremely sketchy from 3 this year, and if they get hot, this could be a long night for the Ags, however they will have problems with the D at the perimiter from Watson and Petersen.
On the offensive side, the Aggies run just about whatever they want. If Petersen can continue his hot shooting from outside, and Ducharme continues to be a surprise, there will be no problem getting points. Also, any pressure BYU tries to throw out will easily be handled by Watson and co.
This is probably as close to a "must-win" as you can get in December if you are BYU, still reeling from a loss at Lamar, so they will be playing hard, and if their bigs have their way and they hit some threes they may walk away with the win. However, I think USU has more talent (just shorter talent) and is coached much better. They grind out a slugfest in provo to go 9-1 and continue their recent dominance of in-state foes.
