1837,

I wanted to repost the thread Jack posted in the general discussion forum to make sure you saw it. I would really appreciate your thoughts on these props. Myself, I think this will be the end-all, be-all of opening weekends thus I am tempted to play all of them. However, I do not know jack about betting movie totals...thus I implore you to give your thoughts.

Thanks,
M

The Matrix Reloaded
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BETWWTS POSTS ODDS ON SUCCESS OF ?THE MATRIX RELOADED?
Can Reloaded ?Walk The Path? To Box Office History?

ST. JOHN?S, ANTIGUA (May 9, 2003)?Already hailed as the most anticipated film of the summer, The Matrix Reloaded has experts predicting that the film will challenge numerous box office records when it opens next week. Acknowledging that the second installment of the Matrix trilogy will be a Hollywood blockbuster, BetWWTS.com today announced betting options on the box office success of The Matrix Reloaded.

A leading offshore gaming company for over 10 years, BetWWTS.com is offering unique betting options on The Matrix Reloaded including odds on it breaking various box office records. Currently Spider-Man holds the three-day opening weekend box office record, earning $114.84 million in its opening weekend last summer. Although The Matrix Reloaded will certainly have a highly successful opening, BetWWTS.com has listed the film as an underdog at 4/1 odds (i.e., win $4 for every $1 bet) to eclipse that mark while it?s more likely the film will fall short of that total, listed at 1/6 odds.

Customers may also wager on The Matrix sequel breaking Spider-Man?s single-day record of $43.62 million at 3/1 or against the film surpassing that mark at 1/5 odds. In addition, BetWWTS.com lists Reloaded at 4/9 to break the opening day record of $28.54 million for a non-Friday opening held by The Phantom Menace. Bettors may also wager on the film earning over $100 million in its first three days of release as well as how Reloaded will perform versus other summer blockbusters X2, Terminator 3 and The Hulk.

?The summer blockbuster season is officially underway and with the success that X2 has already enjoyed in theaters, momentum will be on The Matrix Reloaded?s side as the box office continues to heat up,? said Simon Noble, CEO of BetWWTS.com. ?With advance ticket sales soaring, a massive marketing campaign in place and the success of the first film to build on, Reloaded is certain to be an instant hit at the box office and should jump to the top of the charts for 2003.?

BETWWTS will offer betting options on The Matrix Reloaded through May 15, the film?s official opening day. Results will be based on the totals as calculated by Nielsen EDI; all odds are subject to change.

Munson,

I'm glad to see your confidence in me in movies prop.

Maybe you'll be surprise but my leans on your picks are on the UNDER and here's why...

First, Matrix will open on wednesday night at 10:00 pm so the sell out theaters on that day won't count for the opening day. Second, Matrix opens wide release on THURSDAY. I see a 25-30M opening day and as i wrote in another thread, i see an 80-90M for the weekend because it is R rated so it's not a family movie like spiderman was... Third, i see so far bad reviews from it (too many choregraphy, story not so good and so on...)

So my best bets among yours would be:

Blockbuster Match Up ? The Matrix Reloaded vs. X2 (3 day opening weekend)
The Matrix Reloaded -$10 million 10/13
X2: X-Men United +$10 million 10/11

If you can still bet on this despite the huge numbers had (85.5M) then it's a go on matrix. Matrix might even win it without the spread!

What will the total three-day opening weekend be for The Matrix Reloaded?
Over $96 million 20/23
Under $96 million 20/23

UNDER!!!!!!!!

Blockbuster Match Up ? The Matrix Reloaded vs. The Hulk (3 day opening weekend)
The Matrix Reloaded -$25 million 20/23
The Hulk +$25 million 20/23

Hulk +25M (Should make around 65-70M so if Matrix is UNDER 90M for the weekend Hulk should win that one)

Will The Matrix Reloaded break Spider-Man?s single-day record of $43.62 million?
No 1/5
Yes 3/1

Hell NO!!!!

Will The Matrix Reloaded break Spider-Man?s record of $114.84 million for a three-day opening weekend?
No 1/6
Yes 4/1

Hell NO!!!!!

Will The Matrix Reloaded break $100 million for the film?s three-day opening weekend?
No 2/3
Yes 11/10

In 4 days YES but i don,t think it will be done in 3 so NO at 2/3 is a nice play.

Hope you're happy!

:)

1837,

Thanks for your reply. If anything concerns me, it is the select showing on Wednesday. Who knows how books will count this and sounds like a dispute waiting to happen. Second, I watched Spiderman for the first time Saturday night. I would be astounded if The Matrix did not beat this movie. But in the end, I am not one to dispute you--especially with my money. Therefore, I will pass on the whole thing. It seemed like easy money to me. Since it was not to you, I will have to put my money back in my wallet. However, if The Matrix blows all kinds of records, I will expect a large popcorn & Junior Mints as retribution and will offer the same if not!:D :D

Thanks for your response.

 :shade:

All right then! :p

It's just that i expect lines to be too high from sportsbooks about this movie because of all the excitment surround it but people are forgetting it is Rated R and as i said earlier critics are not so good so far and they all say X2 is better than Reloaded because of the story.

You got it my friend! I just checked the forum to see if any totals had been posted and saw it was under $135M. Thanks for leading me to the high road. I still have never made a wager on films even though I know your track record. Let's just say that if I did, your record wouldn't be as good as it is!:D

And just for the record, I haven't even seen it yet. Seems the reviews here at jack's aren't too good. That sure didn't impress me to go to crowded theatres.

Take it easy,
M
