Although the 2007 NFL season is but a fetus, it is never too early to speculate which head coach will be first to get the axe. Even before the season started, a few of coaches were reportedly on the ?hot seat?. Some of those coaches seem to be working themselves into greater graces, while others might be collecting unemployment checks sooner rather then later. Last season, Sportsbook.com correctly handicapped Arizona?s Denny Green as the favorite to get fired first. This season, the handicappers have New York Giants? Tom Coughlin as the first head coach to get his walking papers. This isn?t surprising considering the dismal start to the Giants season combined with how they ended the season. Last season, after going 6-2 and looking like one of the top teams in the NFC, the Giants self destructed losing six of their final eight games. Coughlin received plenty of criticism, not only from the tough New York media, but from his own players including Tiki Barber and Jeremy Shockey.
