A quick check of the calendar shows that today is July 1, which means NFL training camps can't be far behind. The expansion Houston Texans and San Francisco 49ers will be the first teams to report to work, both on July 20, just about 2 1/2 weeks from now. The first exhibition game will be played on Aug. 3, a fairly intriguing match-up that will find the San Francisco 49ers facing HC Steve Spurrier and his Washington Redskins in the American Bowl in Osaka, Japan.
