It's time to take a look at how the golf forum fared last year ... :0corn

For the very first time since I started these forum recap in 2002, If someone had staked 1 unit on each of the plays posted in the golf forum in 2008 they would not have recorded a profit. :(

Novertheless if someone had staked 1 unit on each of the plays in the golf forum over the last seven years, they would have recorded a profit of 2,042 units :D

Your contributions are remarkable. You ARE a first ballot member of the Madjack's Hall of Fame. A thousand thanks, and wishing you great success in 2009.

Stan - A couple of quick quick questions that I think you can readily answer:
- - (1) What were my separately stated deficits in 2008 for Outrights and Matchups? I'm fairly sure the combined deficit is something around 10 units.
- - (2) What was the deficit if someone had wagered one unit on every play posted in the forum in 2008?
- - Thanks again.

Kudos and Congratulations to Tommyjay and DTB for being the best of the best in 2008. Let's hope everyone has a better season in 2009.

LIA, your ytd totals were:

Outrights: -8.80 units
Matchups: -4.01 units

If someone had wagered one unit on all plays posted in 2008, they would have made a loss of 225.71 units :(

Just one losing year in seven, so I'm sure we'll get it all back and more this year!

Re: the top-5 (least) profitable players that people posted this year, aren't Stewart Cink and Robert Allenby utter #*$^!s

When they've been backed to win, people have lost a cumulative 29 units on them;
When they've been backed in matchups, people have lost a cumulative 22 units on them;

So surely, people must make money opposing them? No.

When they've been opposed in matchups, people have lost a cumulative 27.5 units on them! That's almost 40% of the total losses by the forum last year have been on Stewart Cink and Robert Allenby :scared

No real surprise. Robert Allenby has been the biggest choker of the past decade. :mj07: That Turning Stone event this year is evidence A. The guy reels you in each year will all of his top 10's.. then leaves you broke. :mad:

I cant remember Cink choking too many times. I do remember the 36 hole final against Tiger, I guess he also choked at the Pods the following week.

Oh well, nice statistical database :00hour

Will echo LIA sentiments--not enough superaltives to describe your contributions to this forum and golf in general Stan.
Thank you again

--and hats off to golf crew for keeping this one of most civil and fun forums I have ever had the pleasure of participating in--

Looking forward to insight from everyone in 09.
