Always have a great time with this one & always lots of good thoughts.

Week 1 Leans

Seattle vs. St. Louis
Baltimore vs. KC

Would like to hold onto BAL and can't imagine Seattle will be a strong play many weeks.

Good to see you folks back for another stab at this Pool.

I am almost certain to take Baltimore in Week 1. My second lean would be Cincy who should be able to put up points against this Broncos D. Cincy D isn't too shabby either

Agreed

Agreed

Baltimore and New Orleans the obvious Week 1 picks.

Houston is the stealth pick.

Cincy is the brass balls pick.

I totally agree and that being said I must have brass balls because I am heavily leaning Cincy this week.

I think the Ravens are by far the safest play but I don't want to waste them.

Houston F'd me last year in week one and I don't trust them against a different Jets team with a new aggressive coach in Rex Ryan.

Seattle looks decent but I could see them blowing the Rams away but I wouldn't be shocked if the game was close.

New Orleans should beat the Lions but I think the Lions might hang around in week 1. They have some offensive talent and most teams come to play in week 1 as they are not out of it yet.

Early week 2 leans are the Skins amd Packers ... otherwise it looks like a pretty challenging week.

Good Luck!

^ Thoughts on Seattle? You think STL may pull an upset? Holding onto Seattle for later?

One of my rule for this kind of Pool is to stay away from divisional games. This is obviously one and while the Rams stink, I do see better weeks to take the Hawks, namely Week 9 when they host Detroit and Week 15 when they host Tampa.

Both St. Louis and Seattle have new head coaches and both squads have made acquisitions in the off-season. I do not think the Rams can win this game S/U but it will be closer than the spread indicates and for that, I will stay away.

I would stay away from the 2 obvious picks, mostly because 80% ofthe pool will have them, and it would be nice to see one (or both drop).

FWIW - KC is 3-0 last 3 at balt. If I had to pick between the 2, I would go NO over KC

Houston and Zona are solid picks also. I like SD too, but I try not to pick a road team

Not sure who I am taking yet, but I am glad the talks have started again.

FYI - my pool usually has 800-1000 entrants (I have 8 picks, between me and my bro)

Well said Canabiz...
I try and stay away from road teams and divisional rivals unless there are no better options. And I totally agree with your thoughts on Seattle.

I am playing Cincy this week because they are at home, I believe improved and I think Denver is in total disarray and they are going to be lucky to win more than 3 games.

It is a bit scary taking them but other than taking them later in the season against division and state rival Cleveland, I don't see another week I would like them better.

Good Luck!

snoozer, i am on the other side of the coins for NO and BAL. I would rather take the Ravens with a solid D and under-rated offense than the Saints with a high-flying offense but inconsistent D.

Both teams are currently double-digit favorites but the total for the Ravens game is sitting at around 36 while the total for the Saints game is in the high 40's.

IMO, the bookmakers don't think the Chiefs can put up a lot of points in this contest. Although truth be told, I don't see any other week where we should take the Saints.

I am in a couple of Pools so my second pick will be either Cincy or New Orleans. Never put all my eggs in 1 basket.
