Posted odds on who will be the next head coach of the Green Bay Packers.

Offensive coordinators John DeFilippo and Josh McDaniels are the top two choices in the betting odds, while two college coaches, Jim Harbaugh and Lincoln Riley are also among the top contenders to take over in Green Bay.

Brett Favre even made the list, although he is a huge longshot at odds of 1000-1.

Let?s look at the latest odds and consider some of the candidates.

Green Bay Packers Head Coach in Week 1 of 2019 Season

John DeFilippo +200
Josh McDaniels +225
Adam Gase +500
Jim Harbaugh +800
Lincoln Riley +1000
Dave Toub +1500
Zac Taylor +1500
Eric Bieniemy +1500
Bruce Arians +2000
Pete Carmichael Jr. +2000
Jay Gruden +3000
John Harbaugh +4000
David Shaw +5000
Todd Bowles +7500
Dirk Koetter +7500
Gary Kubiak +10000
Kliff Kingsbury +10000
Joe Philbin +10000
Marvin Lewis +20000
Steve Sarkisian +20000
Nick Saban +25000
Brian Kelly +50000
Urban Meyer +50000
Mike Holmgren +100000
Brett Favre +100000

We all know that the Packers fired Mike McCarthy on Sunday after they lost 20-17 at home to the Arizona Cardinals. The Packers will be coached by Joe Philbin for the rest of the season and Philbin is considered a candidate to keep the job next season. If Green Bay finishes the season well, Philbin could be a top contender to be the head coach next season.

It is all a matter of how well Aaron Rodgers does with Philbin running the show.

And Rodgers is the main man who will have a large say as to who is at the helm of the Packers next season, as all reports indicate that the next head coach will be someone who works well with Rodgers.

Favorites

John DeFilippo +200

DeFilippo is the current offensive coordinator of the Vikings and he was the quarterback coach for the Eagles last season. He is credited with helping Carson Wentz and Nick Foles in Philadelphia last season and Kirk Cousins is playing well for Minnesota this season. Perhaps the Packers choose to go with DeFilippo, but he seems overvalued to me at these odds.

Josh McDaniels +225

Will the Packers roll the dice and take a chance with the New England offensive coordinator? McDaniels is considered a top offensive mind and he has been outstanding with Tom Brady and the Patriots. The question is whether McDaniels really wants to leave New England. He backed out of the Colts job last season and with Brady still in New England he may not want to leave.

Dark Horses

Adam Gase +500

I know that Gase did a good job with Jay Cutler in Chicago, but Gase is still the head coach of the Dolphins and there is no indication that is going to change. Maybe the oddsmakers know something that I don?t, but I can?t see Gase being listed at anything less than double-digit odds.

Jim Harbaugh +800

If the Packers want to make a big splash then Harbaugh makes some sense. Harbaugh has not lived up to expectations in Michigan and he could be ready to come back to the NFL. Harbaugh at least makes more sense than Gase and the odds are decent at 8-1.

Lincoln Riley +1000

Riley is unlikely to move from Oklahoma and the Packers probably won?t want to pay him what it would cost to get him. I think the odds on Riley should be higher, as I just can?t see him going to the Packers unless Rodgers actively made a push for him.

Long Shots

If you want to take a chance on a long shot then Zac Taylor at odds of +1500 is worth a bet. He is the current quarterbacks coach with the Rams and anyone working under Sean McVay is getting some interest. It is interesting to note that Taylor was the quarterbacks coach for Joe Philbin.

Another long shot is Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh. The Ravens have surged lately, but if Baltimore fails to make the playoffs there is a good chance Harbaugh will not be back. He would be a great fit in Green Bay and I think he has a ton of value at odds of +4000.

I also can?t ignore the ridiculously high odds on Philbin who is listed at +10000. If the Packers play well down the stretch it is possible that Philbin gets serious consideration and ends up with the job.

Would love to see Lincoln Riley or Bruce Arians end up there. Think Arians is more than just a dark horse.

DZ would Arians at 66 years old want to go to that climate to rebuild that team?

He left the cold for Indy and then Ariz.

I could see the opportunity to work with the best QB in football as an enticing one for Arians. Carson Palmer was the best QB hes had to work with as a head coach other than stints as QB coach in Indy with Peyton and O-coordinator in PIT with Big Ben. He?s also possibly the most qualified coach on that list.

Another fun option would be Kingsbury. Imagine a Rams-Packers matchup totaled in the 80s next season:0002

Kingsbury is headed to USC to be the O/C.

Team needs to rid itself of Rodgers. Seriously!! He replaced Favre and Rodgers' best years are behind him now.

He said Cleveland is only place he would go not interested in packer job. The best fit in my opinion is right down the road from us Mark Helfrich.
